The 2009–10 season of the Frauen-Bundesliga is the 20th season of Germany's premier women's football league. It started on 20 September 2009 and ended on 9 May 2010. On the 21st day of play Turbine Potsdam claimed the championship thus defending their title from the previous season. In 1990 the German Football Association (DFB) created the German Women's Bundesliga, based on the model of the men's Bundesliga. It was first played with north and south divisions, but in 1997 the groups were merged to form a uniform league. The league currently consists of twelve teams and the seasons usually last from late summer to the end of spring with a break in the winter. Despite the league's competitiveness, it has been semi-professional. VfL Wolfsburg has won the most championships. FC Carl Zeiss Jena is a German women's football club from Jena, Thuringia. The club currently plays in the Bundesliga, the highest level of women's football in Germany. Carl Zeiss Jena played regional women's football since 2016/17 but became more prominent, when it merged with FF USV Jena in 2020. Conny Pohlers
Conny Pohlers (born 16 November 1978) is a German former professional footballer who played as a forward. From 1998 she played in the Women's Bundesliga and from 2001 in the Germany national team. Club career Born, Halle, Pohlers comes from a football playing family. Her father played and her mother was once the top goal scorer in a regional league. She first played at the age of seven with FSV '67 Halle. In 1994, she moved to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. In the 2003 season, she played in the American professional league, WUSA, with the Atlanta Beat. In February 2007 she announced that she would be transferring to 1.FFC Frankfurt for the 2007–08 season. In 2013, playing for VfL Wolfsburg, she again became a Bundesliga champion, and on 19 May she scored a goal in Wolfsburg's 3–2 Cup Final win against her old team, Turbine Potsdam. Fatmire "Lira" Alushi (; born 1 April 1988) is a German former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Anja Mittag (; born 16 May 1985) is a German football coach and player who plays as a striker. Mittag is currently a player-coach for RB Leipzig. Kerstin Garefrekes (born 4 September 1979) is a German former footballer who played as a striker or midfielder . Career Club Garefrekes began her career in 1986 at her local football club Grün-Weiß Steinbeck, before joining DJK Arminia Ibbenbüren. In 1998, she moved to the newly founded Bundesliga side FFC Heike Rheine. Garefrekes was relegated to the second division with Heike Rheine in 1999, but achieved immediate promotion back to the Bundesliga the following season. 2010–11 UEFA Women's Champions League
The 2010–11 UEFA Women's Champions League was the tenth edition of the European women's championship for football clubs. The final was held in London, England on 26 May 2011 at Craven Cottage. French side Olympique Lyon won the competition after finishing runner-up the previous year. Lyon became the first French team to win the competition. SG Essen-Schönebeck
SGS Essen are a German multi-sports club based in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was founded in 2000 from the merger of ''VfB Borbeck'' and ''SC Grün-Weiß Schönebeck''. It is most renowned for its women's football team, which plays in the top-tier Frauen-Bundesliga. History On 21 March 1973 SC Grün-Weiß Schönebeck established its women's section.
