2009–10 Basketball Bundesliga
The Basketball Bundesliga 2009–10 was the 44th season of the Basketball Bundesliga. Ten days before the start of the season, Beko was presented as the new main sponsor of the BBL. The sponsorship agreement was made for a period of six years and included a rebranding of the league name to ''Beko BBL''. After topsy-turvy playoffs that saw all of the top four teams in the regular season defeated in the first round, Brose Baskets Bamberg won the title after a 5-game final series against the Skyliners Frankfurt, who had defeated another higher seed in the semifinals. It was the 3rd title for Bamberg, who were also the only higher-seeded team to win a playoff series this season. Teams Giants Nördlingen have decided to withdraw from the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and play in the Pro A this season. This resulted in a Wild card (sports), wild card to be issued by the BBL. Basketball Bundesliga
The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) (English language: ''Federal Basketball League''), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the German basketball league system, highest level Sports league, league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage, and the teams positioned in the 17th and 18th places are Relegation, relegated to a lower-tier league. The playoffs are played in a "Playoff format#Best-of-five playoff, Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are crowned the German champions (basketball), German Champions of that season. Its home arena is Trier Arena, which has a capacity of 5,495 people. From 1990 till 2015 the club existed in the form of TBB Trier, which went bankrupt.
