Muharraq Club had been the defending champions for the previous four seasons, but lost this championship on the final day to Al-Ahli (Manama). Al-Ahli (Manama)
Al-Ahli Club of Manama ( ar, النادي الأهلي البحريني) is a Bahraini sports club based in the capital city of Manama. They used to play in the top division in Bahraini football but were relegated to the second division after finishing ninth in the 2011–12 First Division league. The club also fields players in other sports such as basketball, handball and volleyball. Their home stadium is Al Ahli Stadium, although like all other teams in Bahrain they mainly play on Bahrain National Stadium. Gulf Club Champions Cup
The GCC Champions League ( ar, دوري أبطال الخليج للأندية), formerly known as the Gulf Cup for Clubs ( ar, كأس الخليج للأندية), was an annually organized football league tournament for clubs of the Arabian peninsula. The tournament was first organized in 1982 and was last played in 2015, the 31st edition. Attempts to play the 2016 and 2017 editions failed. It was organised by the Gulf Cooperation Council and open to clubs from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates Although having much popularity in its initial first decades, the tournament faced decline as the Asian Champions League and AFC Cup forced many Gulf clubs to be unable to participate in the competition. Malkiya ( ar, المالكية) is a coastal village that lies on the western coast of Bahrain Island in Bahrain. The village is home to the Malkiya Club football team. Busaiteen ( ar, البسيتين) is a small town in northern Bahrain. It is located on Muharraq Island, just north of Muharraq City. Etymology The town's name, "''Busaiteen''," pertains to the large number of orchards found in it. Education Busaiteen has to its credit the first school in Bahrain and in the entire Persian Gulf region, which is Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifia School. The Medical University of Bahrain which is a fully owned constituent university of RCSI, opened its new campus in Busaiteen in September 2008. Khalifa Sports City Stadium, also known as Isa Town Stadium, is a multi-use stadium in Isa Town, Bahrain. It is currently used mostly for association football. The stadium holds 15,000 people and was opened in 1968. It was last renovated in 2007. Facilities The stadium underwent a $24.4 million (9.2 million BHD) renovation in 2007 that incorporated natural grass on the main football pitch and constructing a new main stand that can carry 3,600 spectators.
