2009–10 Austrian Football First League
The 2009–10 Austrian Football First League (German: ''Erste Liga'', also known as '' ADEG Erste Liga'' due to sponsorship) was the 36th season of the Austrian second-level football league. It began on 14 July 2009 and ended on 28 May 2010. The season is the last one played with twelve teams, as league size will be reduced to ten for 2010–11. The reserve teams of Austrian Bundesliga clubs Red Bull Salzburg and Austria Vienna will be demoted to the Regionalliga after the season regardless of their final position. The last-placed of the remaining ten teams will also be relegated, while the team ranked ninth will compete with the Regionalliga champions for another spot in the 2010–11 season. The Austrian Football Second League (german: 2. Liga) is the second-highest professional division in Austrian football. It was formerly called the First League (''Erste Liga''), from 2002 to 2018. The division currently contains 16 teams, and the champion of the league is promoted to the Austrian Bundesliga. The three last placed teams are directly relegated from the Second League into the regional leagues. The Austrian Football Second Bundesliga is currently known as ''HPYBET 2. liga'' for sponsorship reasons. The Tivoli Stadion Tirol (formerly named ) is a multi-purpose stadium in Innsbruck, Austria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Bundesliga club WSG Tirol and Raiders Tirol of the European League of Football. The stadium capacity was 17,400 when it was built in 2000. For the UEFA Euro 2008 the stadium was temporarily expanded to 30,000 people. The North Stand is fitted with rail seats for safe standing. FC Wacker Innsbruck was an Austrian association football club from Innsbruck, Tyrol. History The ''Fußball-Club Wacker'' ("Valiant") ''Innsbruck'' was established in 1915 by Jakob Hanspeter, Benedikt Hosp, Josef Leitner, Josef Albrecht and other now unknown football enthusiasts and adopted club colours of black and green. The Franz Horr Stadium, formally known as Generali Arena for sponsorship reasons and Viola Park for international matches, is a football stadium in the south of Vienna, Austria.
