2009–10 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2009–10 Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball season marks the 34th season of Atlantic 10 Conference basketball. Preseason In the preseason, talk centered around the University of Dayton, who returned four starters from a 27–8 team that advanced to the second round of the 2009 NCAA tournament. Dayton forward Chris Wright was named to the John R. Wooden Award preseason top 50 candidate list on August 19, the only Atlantic 10 player so honored. Wright also was named to the Naismith Award watch list on October 29. In other preseason recognition, Jason Duty of Duquesne and Yves Mekongo of La Salle were named to the 30-man preseason candidate list for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. In a vote of league coaches and media, Dayton was named the preseason favorite to win the league. AP Poll
The Associated Press poll (AP poll) provides weekly rankings of the top 25 NCAA teams in one of three Division I college sports: football, men's basketball and women's basketball. The rankings are compiled by polling 62 sportswriters and broadcasters from across the nation. Each voter provides their own ranking of the top 25 teams, and the individual rankings are then combined to produce the national ranking by giving a team 25 points for a first place vote, 24 for a second place vote, and so on down to 1 point for a twenty-fifth place vote. The 2009–10 Rhode Island Rams men's basketball team represented the University of Rhode Island in the 2009–10 college basketball season. This was head coach Jim Baron's ninth season at Rhode Island. George Washington Colonials Men's Basketball
The George Washington Colonials men's basketball team represents George Washington University in the United States' capital, Washington, D.C. It plays its home games in the Charles E. The Saint Joseph's Hawks men's basketball team represents Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 2009–10 Xavier Musketeers men's basketball team represented Xavier University in the 2009–10 college basketball season. This was head coach Chris Mack's first season at Xavier. The Musketeers competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference and played their home games at the Cintas Center.
