Cortina D'Ampezzo
Cortina d'Ampezzo (; lld, Anpezo, ; historical de-AT, Hayden) is a town and ''comune'' in the heart of the southern (Dolomitic) Alps in the Province of Belluno, in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. Situated on the Boite river, in an alpine valley, it is a summer and winter sport resort known for its skiing trails, scenery, accommodation, shops and après-ski scene, and for its jet set and Italian aristocratic crowd. In the Middle Ages, Ampezzo fell under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Aquileia and of the Holy Roman Empire. In 1420 it was conquered by the Republic of Venice. Iveta Staša-Šaršūne (born June 9, 1976) is a Latvian curler from Riga, Latvia. Career Staša-Šaršūne skipped the Latvian team at three World Women's Curling Championships. At the 2010 Ford World Women's Curling Championship in Swift Current, Canada, her team placed last with a 1-10 record. At the 2013 World Women's Curling Championship at home in Riga, Latvia, she did not improve her ranking, placing last once again with the same record as in 2010. In 2019, she placed last once again, this time with a 1-11 record at the 2019 World Women's Curling Championship in Silkeborg, Denmark. Allison "Alli" Flaxey ( Nimik; born February 13, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Caledon, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Carly Howard. She is a former Canadian Mixed champion, and World Mixed Doubles bronze medallist. Career Flaxey is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a junior, she won the Manitoba Junior championships at the age of 15 in 2001 with teammates Kristin Loder, Lindsay Titheridge and Elisabeth Peters. The team finished with a 4–8 record at the 2001 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Flaxey began curling competitively playing second for Shauna Streich. As a resident of Manitoba, she won the 2009 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship (held in Autumn 2008), playing third for Sean Grassie. Sean Grassie (born October 18, 1978) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Career As a junior, Grassie and his rink of Scott Madams, Ton Tomyk and Scott Grassie won the Manitoba Junior Men's Championship in 1999. The team represented Manitoba at the 1999 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they finished with a 6-6 record. Grassie has found a lot of his success in mixed curling. He has won two Manitoba Mixed titles, in 2009 and 2011. In 2009, his rink of Allison Nimik (Flaxey), Ross Derksen and Kendra Green would represent Manitoba at the 2009 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. Lisa Peters is a Welsh curler who represented Wales in the 2008, 2009 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships, the 2009 European Curling Championships, and the 2010 European Curling Championships. She is one of Wales's two representatives to the World Curling Federation. She was born in Wrexham in north Wales.
