2009 Vuelta Al PaÃs Vasco
The 2009 Tour of the Basque Country, the 66th edition of the Tour of the Basque Country stage cycling race, started on 6 April and ended on 11 April 2009. The race was won by Alberto Contador, making this his second Tour of the Basque Country victory in a row. The race was the sixth event in the inaugural UCI World Ranking series. 2009 UCI World Ranking
The 2009 UCI World Ranking was the first edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), replacing the rankings previously part of the UCI ProTour, with which it would be merged in 2011 to form the UCI World Tour. The series started with the Tour Down Under's opening stage on 20 January, and consists of 13 stage races and 11 one-day races, culminating in the Giro di Lombardia on 17 October. All events except the Tour Down Under took place in Europe. The individual ranking was topped by Alberto Contador, who took the lead after his win in the Tour de France and was assured of winning the classification when second-placed Alejandro Valverde was absent from the final race of the series. Contador's team took the team title, with Valverde again second as leader of , and with a third Spaniard, Samuel Sánchez, completing the top three in the individual classification, Spain won the national rankings by a wide margin over second placed Italy. Roman Kreuziger
Roman Kreuziger (; born 6 May 1986) is a Czech former professional road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI ProTeam . His father, Roman Kreuziger Sr., was also a bicycle racer who won the Tour of Austria in 1991 and the Cyclocross Junior World Championships in 1983. Kreuziger was an all-rounder, with climbing and time trial abilities, becoming a contender for the General classification of stage races. Allan Davis (cyclist)
Allan Howard Davis (born 27 July 1980) is an Australian former professional road racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI ProTour team . Born in Ipswich, Queensland, Davis resides in Bundaberg, Queensland and in Spain. Known for his sprinting ability, he started competitive cycling at the age of 10, and turned professional in 2002. He is also the brother of fellow cyclist, Scott Davis, and was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. Francesco Gavazzi (born 1 August 1984) is an Italian professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . Career Gavazzi was born in Morbegno. In 2012, Gavazzi participated in the Tour of Beijing and won its queen stage leading to the Great Wall of China.
