2009 Valencian Community Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2009 Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix was the last round of the 2009 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 6–8 November 2009 at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. It was the final race of the 250cc two-stroke class, as Moto2 (600cc four-stroke) replaced it from 2010 onwards. The MotoGP race was won by Dani Pedrosa. MotoGP classification * – Casey Stoner did not start the race. His place on the grid was left vacant. 250 cc classification Alex Debón was due to start on pole position, but due to injuries sustained in qualifying practice he did not take part in the race. Circuit Ricardo Tormo
Circuit Ricardo Tormo, also known as ''Circuit de Valencia'' and officially named ''Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo'', is a motorsport race track located in Cheste (Valencian Community, Spain) and built in 1999. The track is named after Spanish, two-time world champion Grand Prix motorcycle racer Ricardo Tormo (1952–1998), who died in 1998 of leukemia. It has a capacity of 165,000 and a main straight of . The track hosts the MotoGP Valencian Community Grand Prix. Mika Kallio (born 8 November 1982) is a Finnish Grand Prix motorcycle racer, currently serving as the lead test and development rider for the Red Bull KTM team in MotoGP. Ben Spies (; born July 11, 1984), is an American former professional motorcycle road racer. He was sometimes nicknamed "Elbows" due to his riding style, in which his elbows protruded outward.
