2009 V-League
V-League 2009 was the 53rd season of Vietnam's professional football league. The league was held from February 7, 2009 to August 23, 2009. The league winners qualify for the AFC Champions League qualifying round in 2010. The cup winners enter the AFC Cup. The bottom two sides at the end of the season get relegated. The side that finishes 3rd from bottom enters an end of season play-off match against the 2nd Division's 3rd placed side. Vietnamese Super League
The V.League 1 ( vi, Giải bóng đá vô địch quốc gia, lit=National Football League), also called Night Wolf V.League 1 due to sponsorship reasons, is the top professional football league in Vietnam, controlled by the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company. It is contested by 14 clubs who play each other on a home and away basis. The team finishing at the top at the end of the season is crowned the champion and enters the AFC Champions League. The league was founded in 1980 as the All Vietnam Football Championship, with Tổng Cục Đường Sắt emerging as the first winner. The league turned professional in the 2000–01 season, which allowed clubs to hire foreign players. Bùi Tấn Trường (born 19 February 1986) is a Vietnamese professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for V.League 1 club Hà Nội. Trained at Đồng Tháp since a 13-year-old boy, he became first goalkeeper of the club in 2007. In the same year, he scored a goal in the 2-2 draw with Đồng Tâm Long An F.C. in V-League 2007. In 2008, Bùi Tấn Trường was a member of Vietnam U22 squad which won Merdeka Cup after beating hosts Malaysia in the final. He also stopped a penalty shoot of Malaysia in that game. Vietnamese National Football Cup ( vi, Giải Bóng đá Cúp Quốc Gia Việt Nam), now officially recognized as the BaF Meat National Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a Vietnamese football competition. It is one of the most important club competitions in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Cup was first held in 1992. Cảng Sài Gòn was the first cup winners. Format Entry is open to all teams that compete in the V.League 1 (Champions League) and the V.League 2 (First League). The two teams that reach the final are exempt from the preliminary rounds of next year's competition. The cup winners qualify for the AFC Cup (relative equivalent of the UEFA Europa League). Vietnamese National Cup winner will be also qualified for a single match of the Vietnamese Super Cup against the V.League 1 champion. The 2010 AFC Cup was the seventh edition of the AFC Cup, playing between clubs from nations who are members of the Asian Football Confederation. With the Asian Football Confederation currently reviewing the format of the AFC Champions League between 2009 and 2010 season, significant changes were made in the way the competition is run, the teams that will qualify for the AFC Cup is also expected to be from different countries compared to the previous editions.
