2009 USA Sevens
The 2009 USA Sevens competition took place on February 14 and 15 at Petco Park in San Diego, California. It was the fourth Cup trophy in the 2008-09 IRB Sevens World Series. The USA Sevens is played annually as part of the IRB Sevens World Series for international rugby sevens. Argentina won the 2009 USA Sevens, defeating England 19–14 in the cup final. This was the last edition of the USA Sevens to be held in San Diego. Starting with the 2010 edition, the event was moved to Sam Boyd Stadium near Las Vegas. Ben Gollings
Ben Gollings (born 13 May 1980) is an English former rugby union player who currently works as a rugby coach for Fiji sevens team. Gollings is best known for his time with the England national rugby sevens team. He is the career leader in points scored on the World Rugby Sevens Series with 2,652 points. Youth and early career Gollings was born in Launceston, Cornwall, England. Gollings was educated at Castle Court School and Canford School. In 1997 he led Canford to success at The National Schools 7's. In 2000, he was selected for England in the Students' Rugby World Cup while at Brunel University. Rugby sevens career Gollings continued to remain a regular part of the England Sevens set-up. 2008–09 IRB Sevens World Series
The 2008–09 IRB Sevens World Series was the tenth of an annual IRB Sevens World Series of rugby union sevens tournaments for full national sides run by the International Rugby Board since 1999–2000. South Africa clinched the 2008–09 World Series, its first Series title. The defending series champions New Zealand finished fourth. Sevens is traditionally played in a two-day tournament format. However, the most famous event, the Hong Kong Sevens, is played over three days, largely because it involves 24 teams instead of the normal 16. Starting in 2008–09, the Australia leg (which involves the normal 16 teams) was spread out over a three-day period. Roddy Grant (rugby Union)
Roderick Robert Grant is a Scottish rugby union coach and former player. He played as a flanker for Border Reivers, Edinburgh and Scotland sevens between 2006 and 2015, and has coached at the Scottish Rugby Academy and Edinburgh. Since 2019, he has been forwards coach for Ulster. Early life Grant was born in Jwaneng, Botswana to Scottish parents and soon after moved to Cape Town, South Africa. He attended Western Province Prep School where he started playing rugby at the age of 11. From there he moved on to Bishops where he continued his sporting career. It was here that Grant was selected to play for the South African under-15 and under-16 waterpolo sides. Gonzalo Oscar Camacho (born August 28, 1984 in Buenos Aires) is a retired Argentine rugby union rugby player, who played for Leicester Tigers, Exeter Chiefs, Harlequins and on the wing. Tom Biggs (born 22 August 1984) is an English former rugby union footballer, most recently he played for Worcester Warriors. His usual position was at wing. Biggs featured in the Zurich Premiership, Powergen Cup and European Cup. He has a twin brother Biggs had not played any club rugby before joining the Yorkshire U18s, having only played with his school team at Hymers College. Collins Injera (born 18 October 1986) is a Kenyan rugby player. He holds the second place for number of tries scored on the World Rugby Sevens Series with 271. He is known for his achievements with Kenyan national rugby sevens team. Career Injera started playing rugby while at Vihiga High School in Vihiga. Valenese Malifa (born 10 September 1985, in American Samoa) is an American rugby union former fly-half. He has now turned his career to professional coaching in the US for Major League Rugby. He assisted Atlanta’s team, Rugby ATL, from 2018-2020 and has since moved to Dallas to coach the Dallas Jackals in their inaugural year.
