2009 Norwegian Football Cup Final
2009 Norwegian Football Cup Final was played between Molde FK and Aalesunds FK on 8 November 2009 on Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway. With both clubs hailing from Møre og Romsdal, the match was dubbed as a local derby between the league silver medalists from Molde and the pride of Ålesund, who ended up as number four from the bottom in the league. Molde played their fifth cup final, having won in 1994 and 2005, while Aalesund played their first cup final and had the chance to win the club's first trophy ever. Molde's captain Daniel Berg Hestad was a part of both the 1994 and the 2005 winning teams, while Knut Dørum Lillebakk, Øyvind Gjerde and Marcus Andreasson became cup champions in 2005. Both Glenn Roberts and Fredrik Carlsen had the chance to win their second straight cup after winning it with Vålerenga in 2008. The 2009 Norwegian Football Cup was the 104th season of the Norwegian annual knockout football tournament. The competition started with two qualifying rounds on 13 April and 22 April, and the final was held on 8 November. The defending champions were Vålerenga. The winners of the Cup, Aalesund, could call themselves ''Champions of Norway'', and qualified for the third qualifying round of the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League. Daniel Berg Hestad (born 30 July 1975) is a Norwegian football manager and a former player, who played as a central midfielder, most notably for Molde. He is the manager of Molde 2 and the Under-19 squad of Molde. With 666 official appearances, he is the player with most official matches for Molde. He currently holds the record for most matches in Eliteserien with 473. He is three time Norwegian league champion, and four times Norwegian Cup champion. Daniel Arnefjord (born 21 March 1979) is a Swedish footballer who last played for Aalesunds FK in the Norwegian Tippeligaen as a centre back. Career After several seasons in the lower divisions Arnefjord got his breakthrough after he was bought from FC Väsby United to AIK when AIK returned to Allsvenskan in 2006. A bitter moment in the 2006-season was a misunderstanding between Arnefjord and AIK's goalkeeper Daniel Örlund, which led to Arnefjord heading the ball into his one goal in the home-match against Helsingborgs IF. Vegard Valgermo Forren (born 16 February 1988) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for KÍ Klaksvík. He was capped over 30 times for the Norway national team. Aksel Berget Skjølsvik (born 15 May 1987 in Åndalsnes) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a midfielder or striker. Skjølsvik started his football career with Åndalsnes IF.
