2009 MLS Expansion Draft
The 2009 MLS Expansion Draft took place on November 25, 2009, and was a special draft for the Major League Soccer expansion team Philadelphia Union. Philadelphia Union
The Philadelphia Union are an American professional soccer club based in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Union compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Founded on February 28, 2008, the club began playing in 2010 as an expansion team. The club's home stadium is Subaru Park, a soccer-specific stadium located in Chester, Pennsylvania on the banks of the Delaware River. The Columbus Crew, formerly known as Columbus Crew SC, is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference and began play in 1996 as one of the 10 charter clubs of the league. The team is currently operated by an ownership group led by the Haslam family (also owners of the Cleveland Browns and Pilot Corporation) and former team physician Pete Edwards. Wilman Conde
Wilman Fernando Conde Roa, Jr. (born August 29, 1982 in Cali) is a Colombian footballer. Career Professional Conde made his professional debut with Deportes Quindío during the 2000 campaign. His play at Quindío led to interest from the top Colombian sides, and in 2001 he joined Deportivo Cali and became a fixture at the club for the next three years. In 2004, he went to Cortuluá, followed by a brief spell at Ecuadorean side Aucas. After training with Club Atlético Tigre in Argentina and playing briefly for Real Cartagena, Conde signed with Millonarios and became a fixture in central defense. Calen Carr
Calen Carr (born October 4, 1982) is an American former professional soccer player. He played in Major League Soccer for the Chicago Fire and Houston Dynamo as a forward and winger. He currently works for MLS as a web show host of The Movement on YouTube and MLSSoccer.com. Career High School and College Born in Oakland, California, Carr attended The Branson School in Ross, California until 2001, where he was the team Offensive Player of the Year three times. Jon Busch
Jon Busch (born August 18, 1976) is an American professional soccer coach and former player, who played as a goalkeeper. Busch is currently the goalkeeping coach for USL Championship club Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. He is best remembered for his captivating saves, despite his shorter stature for an elite goalkeeper, and spent most of his 21-year professional playing years in Major League Soccer, appearing for the Columbus Crew, Chicago Fire and San Jose Earthquakes. Mike Banner (born October 20, 1984) is an American former professional soccer player who is currently retired. Career College Born in Washington, D.C., Banner attended Gonzaga College High School and began his collegiate soccer career at Georgetown University in 2002. He played in 18 matches during his freshman season for the Hoyas, starting 13 games, but transferred to Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville the following season. Nick Zimmerman (born May 3, 1987 in Tampa, Florida) is an American soccer player. Career Coaching Zimmerman began coaching in 2015 for Columbus State University's women's soccer program, a Division II school in Columbus, GA, as the assistant coach under Jay Entlich. College and amateur Zimmerman played college soccer for James Madison University from 2005 to 2008. In his four years with James Madison, he appeared in 75 matches scoring 13 goals. Shavar Thomas (born 29 January 1981 in Hannah Town) is a retired Jamaican footballer and current assistant coach of FC Cincinnati 2 of MLS Next Pro.
