2009 LPGA Championship
The 2009 LPGA Championship was the 55th LPGA Championship, played June 11–14 at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Maryland. This was the second of four major championships on the LPGA Tour in 2009. Tour rookie Anna Nordqvist, age 22, won her first major title, four strokes ahead of runner-up Lindsey Wright. It was Nordqvist's first career win on the LPGA Tour. Beginning in 2005, this championship was played at Bulle Rock for five consecutive seasons, ending with this edition. 2009 LPGA Tour
The 2009 LPGA Tour was a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world that took place from February through November 2009. The tournaments were sanctioned by the United States-based Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). 2009 saw a reduction in both the number of tournaments and the total prize money on the Tour. Official prize money was $47.6 million, the lowest total in since 2005. There were 28 official tournaments, the lowest number since at least 2004. Rookie Jiyai Shin topped the money list, earning $1,807,334. In addition Shin took Rookie of the Year honors. Shin and Lorena Ochoa each won three tournaments during the season. Ochoa also won the Player of the Year trophy for the fourth consecutive year and the Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average, also for the fourth consecutive year. 1999 LPGA Championship
The 1999 LPGA Championship was the 45th LPGA Championship, played June 24–27 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. This was the third of four major championships that took place on the LPGA Tour in 1999. Three days after turning 39, Juli Inkster shot a final round 65 to win her first LPGA Championship, four strokes ahead of runner-up Liselotte Neumann and completed the career grand slam. The fifth of her seven major titles, it was also consecutive major victories; she won her first U.S. Women's Open title three weeks earlier. Inkster successfully defended this LPGA Championship the following year. The DuPont Country Club hosted this championship for 11 consecutive seasons, from 1994 through 2004. 1994 LPGA Championship
The 1994 LPGA Championship was the 40th LPGA Championship, played May 12–15 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Laura Davies shot a final round 68 to win the first of her two LPGA Championship titles, three strokes ahead of runner-up It was the second of her four major titles. This was the first of eleven consecutive LPGA Championships at DuPont, which had hosted the McDonald's Championship, a regular tour event, the previous seven seasons. McDonald's sponsored the LPGA Championship for sixteen editions, from 1994 through 2009. Davies had won the regular tour event at DuPont the previous year for consecutive victories at the course. Laura Davies
Dame Laura Jane Davies, (born 5 October 1963) is an English female professional golfer. She has achieved the status of her nation's most accomplished female golfer of modern times, being the first non-American to finish at the top of the LPGA money list as well as winning the Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit a record seven times: in 1985, 1986, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2004 and 2006. As of 2018, Davies has 87 professional wins worldwide, with 20 on the LPGA Tour, including four majors. From 1985 to 2010, she won at least one individual title somewhere in the world every season, except for 2005, and was the first golfer, male or female, to win tournaments on five continents in one year. 1991 LPGA Championship
The 1991 LPGA Championship was the 37th LPGA Championship, played June 27–30 at Bethesda Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, a suburb northwest of Washington, D.C. Meg Mallon shot a final round 67 (−4) to win the first of her four major titles, one stroke ahead of runners-up Pat Bradley and Ayako Okamoto. All three were tied for the lead at 207 (−6) after 54 holes, and played in the final grouping on Sunday. They came to the final hole tied at nine under par; all three put their drives in the fairway and had putts for birdie, but only Mallon converted. She won the U.S. Women's Open two weeks later. Meg Mallon
Meg Mallon (born April 14, 1963) is an American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1987 and won 18 LPGA Tour events, including four major championships, during her career. Mallon was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2017. Early life and amateur career Mallon was born on April 14, 1963 in Natick, Massachusetts. She started playing golf at the age of 7. She won the Michigan Amateur Championship title in 1983. She attended Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Mallon attended Ohio State University, where she earned All-Conference honors from 1984–85 and was the runner-up at the 1985 Big Ten Championship. Suzann Pettersen
Suzann Pettersen (born 7 April 1981) is a retired Norwegian professional golfer. She played mainly on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour, and was also a member of the Ladies European Tour. Her career best world ranking was second and she held that position several times, most recently from August 2011 until February 2012. She retired on 15 September 2019 after holing the winning putt for the European team at the 2019 Solheim Cup, notwithstanding that she had been away from golf for almost 20 months on maternity leave prior to the event. 2006 LPGA Championship
The 2006 LPGA Championship was the 52nd LPGA Championship, played June 8–11 at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Maryland. This was the second of four major championships on the LPGA Tour in 2006. Se Ri Pak, age 28, won her third LPGA Championship with a playoff victory over Karrie Webb. She three-putted the 72nd hole to fall into a tie with Webb at 280 (−8), one stroke ahead of Ai Miyazato and Mi Hyun Kim. Webb had birdie opportunities on the final two holes, but parred both. After a short tee shot on the first extra hole, Pak hit her long approach shot within inches for birdie to gain her fifth major title and 23rd win on the LPGA Tour, the first in two years. 2002 LPGA Championship
The 2002 LPGA Championship was the 48th LPGA Championship, played June 6–9 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Se Ri Pak, age 24, won the second of her three LPGA Championships, three strokes ahead of runner-up Beth Daniel, the 54-hole leader and champion in 1990. It was the fourth of Pak's five major titles; at the time, she was the youngest woman to win four major titles. Daniel, age 45, was attempting to become the oldest winner of a major in LPGA history, but carded a final round 77. Annika Sörenstam shot 65 to climb up the leaderboard into third; she won the next three editions of this championship. 1998 LPGA Championship
The 1998 LPGA Championship was the 44th LPGA Championship, played May 14–17 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. This was the second of four major championships on the LPGA Tour in 1998. Twenty-year-old rookie Se Ri Pak led wire-to-wire to win the first of her five majors, three strokes ahead of runners-up Donna Andrews and Lisa Hackney. Se Ri Pak
Pak Se-ri or Se-ri Pak ( ko, 박세리, ; born 28 September 1977) is a South Korean former professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour from 1998 to 2016. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007. Career overview Born in Daejeon, she attended Yuseong Elementary School in that city and then Keumseong Girls’ High School in Gongju City, Chungnam Province, where she was the school's best amateur golfer. She then moved to Seoul for training. Pak turned professional in 1996, a year before she moved to the United States as a 20-year-old.
