2009 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Football Team
The 2009 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team represented the Georgia Institute of Technology in the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by second year head coach Paul Johnson. Georgia Tech played their home games at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Grant Field in Atlanta. The Yellow Jackets finished the season 11–3, 7–1 in ACC play, represented the coastal division in the ACC Championship Game where they defeated Atlantic Division champion Clemson 39–34 to earn the ACC's automatic bid to the BCS. The Yellow Jackets would be invited to the FedEx Orange Bowl where they lost 24–14 to Iowa. Paul Johnson (American Football Coach)
Paul Clayton Johnson (born August 20, 1957) is a retired American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Georgia Southern University from 1997 to 2001, the United States Naval Academy from 2002 to 2007, and Georgia Tech, from 2008 to 2018, compiling a career college football coaching record of 189–100. Johnson's Georgia Southern Eagles football, Georgia Southern Eagles won consecutive NCAA Division I Football Championship, NCAA Division I-AA Football Championships in 1999 and 2000. He is noted for his use of the flexbone formation, flexbone spread offense, spread option offense. The Georgia Bulldogs football program represents the University of Georgia in the sport of American football. Clemson–Georgia Tech Football Rivalry
The Clemson–Georgia Tech football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Clemson Tigers football team of Clemson University and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team of Georgia Tech. Both schools are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Since conference expansion in 2005, Clemson represents the Atlantic Division while Georgia Tech plays in the Coastal Division, and they are official cross-divisional rivals which play every year. Clemson won the first four games of the rivalry, but Georgia Tech leads the all-time series 51–32–2. 2009 Jacksonville State Gamecocks Football Team
The 2009 Jacksonville State Gamecocks football team represented Jacksonville State University as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) during the 2009 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by tenth-year head coach Jack Crowe, the Gamecocks compiled an overall record of 8–3 with a mark of 6–1 in conference, finishing first in the OVC. However, Jacksonville State was ineligible for the conference championship and the NCAA Division I Football Championship playoffs due to Academic Progress Rate (APR) violations. Derrick Lee Morgan (born January 6, 1989) is a former American football linebacker who spent his entire nine-year pro career playing for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected 16th overall by the Titans in the 2010 NFL Draft after playing college football at Georgia Tech. High school career Morgan was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He played college football at Georgia Tech and was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He also played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. Demaryius Antwon Thomas (December 25, 1987 – December 9, 2021) was an American professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons, primarily with the Denver Broncos. Jonathan Avery Dwyer (born July 26, 1989) is a former American football running back . He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
