2009 Djurgårdens IF Season
Djurgården will in the 2009 season compete in the Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen. Djurgården sacked both managers after the terrible 2008 year, Siggi Jónsson and Paul Lindholm. The new coaches were presented on December 12, 2008, Andreé Jeglertz and former DIF-manager and two times Swedish champion with Djurgården, Zoran Lukic. Djurgården finished at place 14 after winning all the three last games and played Assyriska in qualification for Allsvenskan. Assyriska won the first game at home with 2–0, but Djurgården came back and won 3–0 at home in extra time, which means that Djurgården will play Allsvenskan 2010 On June 3, 2009, Zoran Lukic left the club. Andreé Jeglertz is still in the club. On June 12 former-Djurgården player Steve Galloway returns to the club as assistant manager. Djurgårdens IF Fotbollsförening – commonly known as Djurgårdens IF, Djurgården Fotboll (official name), Djurgården (), and (especially locally) Djurgår'n (), Dif or DIF – is the men's association football department of its parent association Djurgårdens IF. Founded 1891 on the island of Djurgården, the club's home ground is Tele2 Arena, situated in the Johanneshov district of Stockholm. Competing in the highest Swedish tier, Allsvenskan, the club has won the league twelve times and the cup five times. The league titles have mainly been won during three separate eras. The first period was the 1910s, when they won four league titles. The second era occurred in the 1950s and 60s, when Djurgården also won the league four times. The most recent era was the first half of the 00s when they won both the league and the cup three times. Johan Oremo
Johan Oremo (born 24 October 1986) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a forward for Ängelholms FF. He has won two caps for the Sweden national team. Club career Oremo started his career at Söderhamns FF in the Swedish football Division 3 before moving to Gefle IF in 2007. During his first season in Gefle he scored 11 goals in Allsvenskan. After the season, Oremo was connected with other Swedish clubs but he decided to stay in Gefle. On 3 July 2008 Oremo signed a 4 and a half year contract with Djurgårdens IF. He went on to score 3 league goals for Djurgården during the second half of the 2008 season. Jan Tauer
Jan Tauer (born 26 August 1983) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Tauer was born in Düsseldorf. Prince Ikpe Ekong
Prince Ikpe Ekong (born 5 October 1978) is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He is best remembered for representing Reggiana, Shenyang Ginde, Xiamen Lanshi, GAIS, and Djurgårdens IF during his career. Toni Kuivasto
Toni Kuivasto (born 31 December 1975) is a retired Finnish footballer who last played for Veikkausliigaside FC Haka. Club career Kuivasto started his career at home-town club FC Ilves, making his Veikkausliiga debut in 1992. He also played for MyPa and HJK Helsinki in Finland, before moving abroad to play for Viking FK of the Norwegian Tippeligaen in 2001. Petter Gustafsson (born 16 September 1985) is a Swedish retired footballer who played as a defender. Yosif Ayuba (born 30 November 1990) is a Sweden, Swedish association football, footballer of Beninese descent who plays as a Defender (association football), defender and midfielder. Philip Hellquist
Philip Hellquist (born 21 May 1991) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a forward for Brommapojkarna. Career Hellquist grew up in the Stockholm suburb Kista, and began playing football in Djurgården's youth team at the age of five. He was named for the Swedish U17 national team in a friendly against Latvia in April 2007. The game was his debut in any of the Swedish national teams, and he also scored the last goal in the 6–0 victory. He drew attention from English club Arsenal, which offered him a place in their U17-team. No transfer was made due to a hip injury. Steve Galloway (born 13 February 1963) is an English football coach and former player. He is currently the assistant manager of Umeå FC. As a player, Galloway played professionally as a forward in England, Scotland and Sweden. Playing career Born in Hannover, West Germany, Galloway played in English non-league football at Sutton United, before moving into the Football League with Crystal Palace in 1984. He spent two seasons with Palace – which included a loan spell at Cambridge United – before joining non-league Maidstone United in 1986.
