The 2009 Davidoff Swiss Indoors was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the 40th edition of the event known that year as the Davidoff Swiss Indoors, and was part of the 500 Series of the 2009 ATP World Tour. It was held at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, from 2 November through 8 November 2009. Novak Djokovic won the singles title. ATP World Tour 500 Series
The ATP 500 tournaments (previously known as the ''ATP World Tour 500'' tournaments, ''ATP International Series Gold'', and ''ATP Championship Series'') are the fourth highest tier of annual men's tennis tournament after the four Grand Slam tournaments, ATP Finals, and the ATP Masters 1000. The series includes 13 tournaments, with 500 ranking points awarded for the events' singles champions – which accounts for the name of the series. Tournaments have various draws of 32 and 48 for singles and 16 and 24 for doubles. It is mandatory for leading players to enter at least four 500 events, including at least one after the US Open; if they play fewer than four, or fail to play in one after the US Open they get a "zero" score towards their world ranking for each one short. Michael Carl Bryan (born April 29, 1978) is an American former doubles world No. 1 tennis player. Robert Charles Bryan (born April 29, 1978) is an American former doubles world No. 1 tennis player. He has won twenty-three Grand Slam titles: 16 in men's doubles and 7 in mixed doubles. He turned professional in 1998. With his twin brother Mike, he was the world No. 1 doubles player for several years, first achieving the top ranking in September 2003. Florent Lucien Serra (born 28 February 1981) is a French retired professional tennis player. A right-hander, he won two ATP titles during his career and achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 36 in June 2006. Olivier Rochus (; born 18 January 1981) is a retired Belgian tennis player. He is the younger brother of Christophe Rochus, also a former top-40 tennis player. Rochus won two singles titles in his career and in 2004 French Open – Men's doubles, 2004 won the French Open doubles title, partnering fellow Belgian Xavier Malisse. Peter Luczak ( pl, Łuczak, ; born 31 August 1979) is a retired professional tennis player for Australia. His career-high ATP singles ranking was World No. 64, achieved in October 2009. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, Luczak won the Gold in the doubles. Luczak came to Australia at 9 months of age, when his parents, Eva and Kris, left Warsaw in 1980, where they settled in Melbourne. Marco Chiudinelli (born 10 September 1981) is a retired tennis player from Switzerland. A member of Switzerland's winning 2014 Davis Cup squad, he reached his highest singles ranking of 52 in February 2010 during a career that was often hindered by injury. Biography Marco grew up in Münchenstein and learned to play tennis at Basel Lawn Tennis Club.
