2009 Clipsal 500
The 2009 Clipsal 500 was the first race of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship Series. It was held on the weekend of 20–22 March around the inner city streets of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. Qualifying Qualifying was held on Friday 20 March, and was split into two sessions. Session one lasted for 34 minutes, 15 seconds and saw the top ten drivers qualifying for the Top Ten Shootout, with positions 11–30 being set by times in the session. In this first session, reigning series champion Jamie Whincup set the pace, setting a new qualifying lap record of 1:21.2773. Although he was some half a second slower in the Shootout, Whincup was still quick enough to lead a Triple Eight Race Engineering 1–2 with Craig Lowndes 0.2545 seconds behind. Shane Robert van Gisbergen (born 9 May 1989) is a New Zealand racing driver in the Supercars Championship racing in the Number 97 Holden ZB Commodore car for Triple Eight Race Engineering. With three Supercars Championship wins (2016, 2021, 2022), 75 wins and 40 pole positions, Van Gisbergen is the fourth most successful racing driver in the Supercars Championship history. Dale Wood (racing Driver)
Dale Wood (born 9 June 1983) is an Australian racing driver who currently co-drives for Brad Jones Racing's No. 8 Holden ZB Commodore in the Pirtek Enduro Cup. He currently resides in Melbourne, Victoria. He commenced his full-time V8 Supercar career in 2009 with the newly formed team Kelly Racing team, having raced previously for the Tasman Motorsport aligned Greg Murphy Racing Fujitsu series squad. Walkinshaw Andretti United is an Australian motor racing team based in the Melbourne suburb of Clayton. David Reynolds (born 3 July 1985) is an Australian professional racing driver. He currently drives in the Repco Supercars Championship for Grove Racing, racing the No. 26 Ford Mustang. Jason Bright (born 7 March 1973) is a retired Australian racing driver who competed in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. He drove the No. 56 Ford FG X Falcon for Britek Motorsport, a satellite team of Prodrive Racing Australia, before retiring from full-time racing at the end of the 2017. Paul Cruickshank Racing was an Australian motor racing team that competed in several Sports Car and Touring Car categories. Fabian "Fabs" Coulthard (born 28 July 1982) is a British-born New Zealand professional race car driver, currently competing in the Repco Supercars Championship, driving as an endurance co-driver for Chaz Mostert with Walkinshaw Andretti United. Rick Kelly (born 17 January 1983) is an Australian professional racing driver who previously competed in the Supercars Championship. He last drove the No. 15 Ford Mustang GT for Kelly Racing. Previously, he drove for the HSV Dealer Team with whom he won the Bathurst 1000 alongside Greg Murphy in 2003 and 2004. While retired from full-time competition, McConville still races occasionally and is an in-demand endurance event co-driver. Russell Ingall
Russell Ingall (born 24 February 1964 in London, England) is a former full-time Australian V8 Supercar driver. He won his V8 Supercars title in 2005, and finished second in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2004. Ingall has also won the Bathurst 1000, in 1995 and 1997. His particular driving style earned him the nickname "Enforcer". Early years Ingall was born in England and moved to Port Adelaide in South Australia with his father at the age of three.
