2009 Categoría Primera A Season
The 2009 Copa Mustang was the 62nd season of Colombia's top-flight football league, the Categoría Primera A. The season is divided into two championships; Torneo Apertura and Torneo Finalización. Each tournament crowned a national champion and qualified for the 2010 Copa Libertadores. Teams Torneo Apertura The Torneo Apertura began on February 6 and ended on June 28. Once Caldas won the tournament for their 3rd national title. First stage Standings Results Cuadrangular semifinals The second stage of the Torneo Apertura was a quadrangular semifinal. The eight teams qualified from the first stage were placed into two groups of four. The top-two seeded teams were placed into separate groups, while the other qualified teams were pooled into odd and even seeds and placed into separate groups. The Categoría Primera A (), commonly referred to as Liga BetPlay Dimayor (between 2015 and 2019 ''Liga Águila'') due to sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is a Colombian professional league for association football clubs. It is the country's premier football tournament and sits at the top of the Colombian football league system. A total of twenty clubs compete in the league's regular season. ''División Mayor del Fútbol Profesional Colombiano'', better known as DIMAYOR, operates the league system of promotion and relegation for both Categoría Primera A and Categoría Primera B leagues. Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero
The Estadio Olimpico Pascual Guerrero is a football stadium, also used for athletics, concerts, and rugby sevens, in Santiago de Cali, Colombia which is named to honor the poet Pascual Guerrero. The stadium and the sports complex that surrounds it are one of the finest and most modern sports complexes in Latin America, and led to references of Cali as the "Sports Capital of America". The "Pascual", as Cali's inhabitants usually call the stadium, replaced the now defunct ''Estadio Galilea'' which was located in the Versailles neighbourhood, where the first national athletics competition was held in 1928. Millonarios Fútbol Club is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at the El Campín stadium. Millonarios was initially created in 1937 by students from the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé. Club Deportivo La Equidad Seguros, also known as La Equidad, is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. Atlético Nacional S. A., best known as Atlético Nacional, is a Colombian professional football club based in Medellín.
