2009 Carlton Football Club Season
The 2009 Carlton Football Club season was the Carlton Football Club's 146th season, and 113th as a member of the Australian Football League. Carlton finished 7th out of 16 teams in the 2009 AFL season. The season marked the first time that Carlton had played finals since 2001, ending what at that time was a club record drought of seven consecutive VFL/AFL seasons without a finals appearance. Full forward Brendan Fevola won the Coleman Medal as the league's leading goalkicker. Marc Murphy (footballer)
Marc Murphy (born 19 July 1987) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited with the first overall selection in the 2005 AFL draft and served as the captain of Carlton from the 2013 season to 2018. He is the son of John Murphy. Early life and junior career Murphy attended Whitefriars College in Donvale. Jordan Russell
Jordan Russell (born 6 November 1986) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League. Russell was recruited as the number 9 draft pick in the 2004 AFL Draft from West Adelaide. He made his AFL debut for the Carlton Football Club in Round 15, 2005 against St Kilda, his only match for the year. He spent most of the season developing in Carlton's , the Northern Bullants. In 2006, he broke into the senior team, playing ten games, mostly off the bench. The Bendigo Pioneers is an Australian rules football team in the statewide Victorian under-18s league, the NAB League. Synopsis The Bendigo Pioneers is an Australian rules football team playing in NAB League since 1993 based in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. The idea behind the Bendigo Pioneers is to train its players and condition them for professional football. The team is divided into under-15s, under-16s, and under-18s. Andrew Walker (born 18 May 1986) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played with the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Andrew has Indigenous Australian heritage and his tribal ancestry can be traced to the Yorta Yorta. Carlton Football Club Salary Cap Breach
The Carlton Football Club salary cap breach was the breach of the Australian Football League's salary cap by the Carlton Football Club, primarily in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The breaches were a major scandal for the club, and resulted in the club being fined almost one million dollars (which was a record fine for an AFL team until Essendon in 2013), and restricted from recruiting players via the AFL Draft, both of which had lasting implications on the club's position. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL).
