2009 Brno Superbike World Championship Round
The 2009 Brno Superbike World Championship round was the tenth round of the 2009 Superbike World Championship season. It took place on the weekend of July 24-26, 2009 at the Masaryk Circuit located in Brno. Ben Spies, Michel Fabrizio and Max Biaggi were the three dominant riders on pace all weekend - Fabrizio took Spies out in a collision in race one (handing Aprilia their first win since returning to WSBK at the start of the season), before all three were on the race two podium. Checa and Rea gave Ten Kate their first ever double WSBK podium finish in race one. Championship leader Noriyuki Haga was still not 100% fit following his huge crash at Mugello in the previous round, but Spies' non-finish in race one reduced the damage to his championship. Troy Corser made flying starts to lead both races on the BMW, while his teammate Rubén Xaus suffered a broken leg in a big crash on lap one of race one. Masaryk Circuit
The Masaryk circuit ( cz, Masarykův okruh) or Masarykring, also referred to as the Brno Circuit, refers to two motorsport race tracks located in Brno, Czech Republic. The original street circuit was made up of public roads, and at its longest measured . In 1949, events such as the Czechoslovakian Grand Prix attracted top teams and drivers. The track is named after the first president of Czechoslovakia, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. Racing on the old roads ended after 1986, when the new (current) circuit was opened. Shane Byrne (motorcycle Racer)
Shane Byrne (born 10 December 1976), often known as Shakey, is a British professional motorcycle road racer. He is a six-time champion of the British Superbike Championship (2003, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017), the only person in the history of the series to win six titles. He has also been a race winner in the Superbike World Championship and has competed in MotoGP. Vittorio Iannuzzo (born 10 May 1982 in Avellino) is an Italian motorcycle racer. He currently competes in the IDM Superbike Championship aboard a Suzuki GSX-R1000. He was the 2002 European Superstock 1000 champion riding an Alstare Suzuki. In his Superbike World Championship participations, he had a front-row start at Misano World Circuit in 2003. In 2010 he had a huge crash at Circuit Ricardo Tormo when he tangled with Simon Andrews. Suzuki GSX-R1000
The Suzuki GSX-R1000 is a supersport motorcycle made by Suzuki. It was introduced in 2001 to replace the GSX-R1100 and is powered by a liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder, four-stroke engine although originally from 2001 to 2004. Yukio Kagayama
is a Japanese professional motorcycle road racer. He began his motorcycle racing career competing in the Japanese national championships before racing internationally in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, the Superbike World Championship as well as in the British Superbike Championship. Ryuichi Kiyonari
(born September 23, 1982 in Saitama, Japan) is a professional motorcycle road racer. He previously rode a Honda CBR1000RR in the MFJ All-Japan Road Race JSB1000 Championship. He was the 2006, 2007 and 2010 British Superbike champion and enjoys fame and popularity amongst British motorcycle race fans due to his success and personality. He raced for Honda Asia in 2012. Broc Parkes (born 24 December 1981) is an Australian motorcycle racer, best known for his success in the Supersport World Championship. Alfonso González Nieto (born 2 December 1978 in Madrid, Spain), better known as Fonsi Nieto, is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and the nephew of successful Grand Prix motorcycle road racer Ángel Nieto. After success in the 250cc class he moved to World Superbikes and made one MotoGP start. For 2010 he returned to the Grand Prix scene in the newly formed Moto2 category. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a motorcycle in the Ninja sport bike series from the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki, the successor to the Ninja ZX-9R. Leon Lloyd Haslam (born 31 May 1983, in the London Borough of Ealing) is a motorcycle road racer based in Derbyshire, England.
