2009 British Formula Ford Season
The 2009 British Formula Ford Championship was the 34th edition of the British Formula Ford Championship. It began on 13 April at Oulton Park's Easter Monday meeting and ended on 4 October at Castle Combe Circuit after 9 rounds and 25 races, all held in the United Kingdom. James Cole won the series, taking seven race victories with team Jamun Racing to finish 47 points ahead of Josef Newgarden in the final standings. British Formula Ford Championship
The British Formula Ford Championship was an entry level single seater motor racing category, designed to give racing drivers their first step into car racing after karting. Drivers from around the world were attracted to the United Kingdom to compete in the series, and successful Formula One drivers such as Ayrton Senna and Jenson Button won their first single-seater titles in the championship. The championship was run to various Formula Ford regulations over the years, based on the engines provided for the championship by Ford Motor Company. These engine based regulations/specifications include the Ford Kent engine, Ford Zetec engine, Ford Duratec engine and in the final years the Ford EcoBoost engine. From the 2015 season onwards, the championship was replaced by MSA Formula, which conforms to the FIA's new Formula 4 regulations. Daniel Cammish
Daniel Cammish (born 10 April 1989) is a British racing driver currently competing in a Ford Focus for Motorbase Performance, NAPA Racing UK in the British Touring Car Championship. Early life Cammish was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire. He attended The Morley Academy, Morley High School. Racing career Cammish made his karting debut in 2003, driving in the Manchester & Buxton Kart Club Junior Rotax Championship, in which he finished 20th. He raced in the Kartmasters British Grand Prix Super Libre, Super 1 National Formula A Championship and Super 1 National Rotax Max Championship before graduating to car racing in 2009, where he won the British Formula Ford Championship, Formula Ford Scholarship class and competed in the ADAC Formel Masters. Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit in West Kingsdown, Kent, England, United Kingdom. Originally used as a grasstrack motorcycle circuit on farmland, it hosted 12 runnings of the British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986 and currently hosts many British and International racing events. Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Towcester, Silverstone and Whittlebury. It is the home of the British Grand Prix, which it first hosted as the 1948 British Grand Prix. Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038. It has a capacity of 120,000, and is also the venue of the Download Festival. Snetterton Circuit is a motor racing course in Norfolk, England, originally opened in 1953. Owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, it is situated on the A11 road north-east of the town of Thetford and south-west of the city of Norwich. Knockhill Racing Circuit
Knockhill Racing Circuit is a motor racing circuit in Fife, Scotland. It opened in September 1974 and is Scotland's national motorsport centre. The circuit is located in the countryside about north of Dunfermline. It is the only FIA approved circuit in Scotland. History The circuit opened in September 1974. It was created by joining service roads to a nearby disused mineral railway, closed in 1951, which served Lethans Colliery. The first car race was held on 18 May 1975. Rockingham Motor Speedway is a former racing motorsport venue in Rockingham, Northamptonshire, England, United Kingdom, near the town of Corby. It hosted professional and club races, as well as testing, track days, driver training, exhibitions and conferences. Juno Racing Cars is a British Group CN sportscar constructor. On 7 August 2014 it was announced that Juno Racing Cars was acquired by Ginetta Cars. In June 2016 Juno was bought by a private owner and the base of operations was moved to Portugal. History Juno Racing Cars was founded by former Williams F1 engineer Ewan Baldry in 1999. Antti Buri (born 2 December 1988) is a Finnish racing driver currently TCR Italian Series champion. Having previously competed in the ADAC TCR Germany Blancpain Endurance Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Germany & International GTSprint Series amongst others. Racing career Buri began his career in 2007 in Finnish Formula Ford Zetec, he raced there for many seasons up until 2009, also racing in the Formula Ford NEZ at the time. In 2009 he switched to the British Formula Ford Championship, he raced there up until 2012 and won the championship title that year. He switched to the Finnish Formula Ford Junior for 2010, taking the championship title in both 2010 & 2011. Privateer (motorsport)
In motorsport, a privateer is usually an entrant into a racing event that is not directly supported by an automobile or motorcycle manufacturer. Privateers teams are often found competing in rally, circuit racing and motorcycle racing events and often include competitors who build and maintain their own vehicles and motorcycles. In previous Formula One seasons, privately owned teams would race using the chassis of another team or constructor in preference to building their own car; the Concorde Agreement now prohibits this practice.
