Super League XIV
The 2009 Super League season (known as the Engage Super League XIV for sponsorship reasons) is the 14th season of rugby league since the Super League format was introduced in 1996. Fourteen teams competed for the Minor Premiership over 27 rounds (including the Magic Weekend at Murrayfield Stadium) after which, the highest finishing teams entered the play-offs to compete for a place in the Grand Final and a chance to win the Super League Trophy. The previous Top six play-offs are extended to eight teams. Salford City Reds and Crusaders join the twelve teams from Super League XIII, following the implementation of a licensing system. Additionally, it was the Crusaders' first ever Super League season. The Catalans Dragons played at least one game in Barcelona, Spain, to try to expand their fan base in Catalonia region. Nick Scruton
Nicholas Scruton (born 24 December 1984) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who most recently played as a for Hull Kingston Rovers in the Super League. He has previously played for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Bradford Bulls, Hull F.C. and the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League. Scruton has also previously represented England. Background Scruton was born in Morley, West Yorkshire, England. Playing career Hull F.C. (2004) 2004 In 2004 Scruton was loaned to Hull F.C. He made 18 appearances and scored three tries in total. JJB Stadium
The DW Stadium is a stadium in Robin Park, in Wigan, within the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. The ground is owned and managed by Wigan Football Company Limited, which is 85% owned by Wigan Athletic and 15% owned by Wigan local authority. It is used by Wigan Athletic football club and Wigan Warriors rugby league club, the rugby league club having a 50 years lease on tenancy to play games at the stadium. Built and opened in 1999, it is named after its main sponsor, DW Sports Fitness. In UEFA matches, it is called Wigan Athletic Stadium due to UEFA regulations on sponsorship. Wigan Warriors
The Wigan Warriors are a professional rugby league club in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, which competes in the Super League. Formed in 1872 as Wigan Football Club, Wigan was a founding member of the Rugby Football League, Northern Rugby Football Union following the History of rugby league, schism from the Rugby Football Union in 1895. Glenn Morrison
Glenn Adam Morrison (born 28 May 1976), is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and coach. He played for the Parramatta Eels, the Balmain Tigers, the North Sydney Bears and the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League before moving to England to play for the Bradford Bulls and then the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats ( Heritage No. 1274) (captain). He was later the head coach of the Dewsbury Rams. In 2021, Morrison was appointed Head coach of Cleveland Rugby League, in the newly created North American Rugby League. Huddersfield Giants
Huddersfield Giants are an English professional rugby league club from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, the birthplace of rugby league, who play in the Super League competition. They play their home games at the John Smiths Stadium which is shared with Huddersfield Town F.C. Hull Kingston Rovers are a professional rugby league club based in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire, England, that competes in the Super League, the top tier of British rugby league. The club has won five league championships, and one Challenge Cup. Formed in 1882, the club joined the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1897. Chris Nero (born 14 February 1981) is an Australians, Australian/Italian people, Italian former professional rugby league footballer. He last played in the Super League for Salford Red Devils, Salford City Reds. His usual position was at , although he could also play in the s. Nero left the Bradford Bulls at the end of the 2010 season to play for Salford Red Devils, Salford City Reds. Playing career Nero joined the Huddersfield Giants in 2004 and was a consistent try scorer for the club. Nero played for Huddersfield Giants in the 2006 Challenge Cup Final at but the Huddersfield Giants lost 12–42 against St Helens R.F.C., St. Helens.
