AMA Superbike Championship
AMA Superbike Championship is an American Motorcycle sport, motorcycle racing series that has been run every year beginning in 1976. For most of its existence it has been considered the premier motorcycle road racing series in the United States. It is sanctioned by the AMA American Motorcyclist Association since its inception, and the promotion of the series has been licensed to several organizations over the years. Since 2015 the series has been run and promoted by MotoAmerica, who also manage several other AMA professional road racing championships, including the popular 600cc Supersport class. The AMA Superbike Championship was created in 1976 as a new motorcycle road racing series taking advantage of the newest large displacement production road-going motorcycles of up to 1000cc's that were increasingly popular with American riders. Larry Pegram (born September 5, 1973 in Columbus, Ohio) is an American motorcycle racer. Racing history AMA Superbike Pegram has been in the AMA Superbike scene for over a decade, first entering the championship in 1996. In 2009 he had his best season finishing 4th overall with 3 wins and 5 podiums. Superbike World Championship Pegram made an appearance as a wildcard at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on July 13, 2014. After retiring in race one, he managed to score the 2 points in the second race, becoming the first rider in history to take an American machine into the points. Virginia International Raceway (commonly known as "VIR") is a race track located in Alton, Virginia, near Danville. It is less than a half-mile from the North Carolina/Virginia border just outside Milton, North Carolina, on the banks of the Dan River. Heartland Motorsports Park, formerly known as Heartland Park Topeka, is a multi-purpose motorsports facility south of downtown Topeka, Kansas near the Topeka Regional Airport. When it opened in 1989, Heartland Motorsports Park was the first new auto racing facility to be built in the United States for 20 years. Its facilities include a road-race course with 4 possible configurations (ranging from to in length), a ⅜ mile clay oval, off-road course and a ¼ mile drag strip. Benjamin Bostrom (born May 7, 1974) is an American former professional motorcycle racer. From 1995 to 2011 he competed in the AMA Superbike Championship, the World Superbike Championship and the MotoGP world championship.. Lexington is a village along the Clear Fork River in Troy Township and Washington Township in Richland County in the U.S. state of Ohio.
