2008–09 Wake Forest Demon Deacons Men's Basketball Team
The 2008–09 Wake Forest Demon Deacons men's basketball team represented Wake Forest University in the 2008–09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team's head coach was Dino Gaudio. he team played its home games in the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). On January 19, the Deacons took the top spot in both the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and the Associated Press poll, making it the second time in program history a Wake Forest team was number one in the country. Wake Forest finished the regular season with a record of 24–5, and 11–5 in the ACC, which tied them with Duke. The Demon Deacons received the number two seed in the 2009 ACC men's basketball tournament in a tiebreaker over Duke because of their victory against number one seed North Carolina. Dino Gaudio
Dino Joseph Gaudio (born March 30, 1957) is an American former men’s college basketball coach and broadcaster who was most recently an assistant coach at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. Gaudio was a longtime assistant under Skip Prosser, serving under him beginning at Wheeling Central Catholic High School in West Virginia and eventually following him to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and later to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; after Prosser’s death in 2007, Gaudio was hired to succeed him and remained there as head coach until 2010. In addition to his time at Wake Forest, Gaudio also served as head coach of the boys’ basketball team Wheeling Central Catholic High School (succeeding Prosser), as well as the men’s teams at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York and Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland (where he again succeeded Prosser). Montverde Academy
Montverde Academy is a private PK–12 school in Montverde, Florida, United States. History The school was founded in 1912 as Montgomery Industrial School. The school president was Henry P. Carpenter. It underwent a major expansion in 1921, when two new buildings were built for a cost of almost $40,000, including a concrete block dormitory for 200 boys and a new dining hall. The expansion was funded by donations, including $11,000 from R. Jay Arnold of Groveland, Florida. This expansion brought the organization to a total of eight buildings on 200 acres and $150,000 worth of equipment. James Patrick Johnson (born February 20, 1987) is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was the starting power forward for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons from 2007 to 2009. He was drafted 16th overall in the 2009 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls.
