2008–09 Slovak Superliga
The 2008–09 Slovak Superliga (known as the Slovak Corgoň Liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 16th season of first-tier football league in Slovakia, since its establishment in 1993. It began on 19 July 2008 and ended on 30 May 2009. FC Artmedia Petržalka were the defending champions. Teams Promotion and relegation FK AS Trenčín were relegated after concluding the last season in 12th and last place. They were replaced by the champions of the 2007–08 1. Liga, 1. FC Tatran Prešov. Also DAC Dunajská Streda, who were Western Group champions of the 2007–08 2. Liga, merged with FC Senec and took their place in Superliga. Slovak Super Liga
The Slovak Super Liga is the top level football league in Slovakia, currently known as the Fortuna Liga due to a sponsorship arrangement. It was formed in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The record for most titles is eleven, held by Slovan Bratislava, who are the current title holders. Zlaté Moravce
Zlaté Moravce (; 1776 Morawce, hu, Aranyosmarót, german: Goldmorawitz) is a town in south-western Slovakia. Basic data It is the capital and the biggest town of Zlaté Moravce District. Dunajská Streda
Dunajská Streda (; hu, Dunaszerdahely; german: Niedermarkt; he, דונהסרדהיי) is a town located in southern Slovakia ( Trnavský kraj). Dunajská Streda is the most culturally significant town in the Žitný ostrov area. The town has a population of 22,730, with ethnic Hungarians forming the 72% majority. Name The name of ''Syridahel'' was first mentioned in 1256. Other early written forms of the name were ''Zeredahely'' (1270) and ''Zredahel'' (1358). Szerdahely means "Wednesday (market)place" in Hungarian and it indicates the town had the privilege to hold a market on Wednesdays (although it was later changed to Fridays). Banská Bystrica (, also known by other alternative names) is a middle-sized town in central Slovakia, located on the Hron River in a long and wide valley encircled by the mountain chains of the Low Tatras, the Veľká Fatra, and the Kremnica Mountains. Petržalka
Petržalka (; german: Engerau / Audorf; hu, Pozsonyligetfalu) is the largest borough of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Situated on the right bank of the river Danube, the area shares a land border with Austria, and is home to around 100,000 people. MFK Dubnica
FK Dubnica is a Slovak football club, playing in the city of Dubnica nad Váhom. History FK Dubnica was founded in 1926 and spent much of its early years playing in the regional Czechoslovakian leagues until 1977 where they were finally promoted to the national first division and finished a respectable 9th in their first season. The team continued in top flight football for 10 years before being relegated in 1987 and it would be at least another 10 years before the team would play at the highest national level again but this time in the independent state of Slovakia. In 1996 Dubnica gained its promotion from the Slovak second division to form part of a newly structured league consisting of one league and 15 other teams.
