2008–09 Serbian Cup
The 2008–09 Serbian Cup season was the third season of the Serbian national football tournament. The competition started on 3 September 2008 and ended with the Final held on 21 May 2009. The defending champions were FK Partizan, who successfully defended their title. Awards Preliminary round A preliminary round was held in order to reduce the number of teams competing in the next round to 32 and featured six teams from Serbian lower divisions. Serbian Cup
The Serbian Cup ( Serbian: Куп Србије, Kup Srbije) is the national football cup of Serbia. The winner of the competition gets a spot in the UEFA Europa League qualifying round. From 2006 to 2010, the competition was known as the Lav Cup for sponsorship reasons. History Serbia's cup tournament is the legal successor to the Serbia and Montenegro Cup and in turn of the Yugoslav Cup. This cup tournament lasted for four seasons up until the dissolution of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro in 2006. The tournament was dominated by Serbian clubs with no Montenegrin sides reaching the final. Belgrade giants Red Star were easily the most successful club reaching the final all four years winning twice and losing in the final the other two seasons. Surprisingly, Red Star's cross-town rival Partizan did not appear in a single final. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). FK Novi Sad
RFK Novi Sad 1921 (Serbian Cyrillic: РФК Нови Сад 1921) is a professional football club from Novi Sad, Serbia. The club is currently playing in the Serbian First League. History The club was founded in 1921 with the name NTK (Novosadski Trgovački Klub, Novi Sad Traders Club), and played in the regional leagues. In 1923, they won the local Novi Sad Football Subassociation league. In 1954, FK Eđšeg (named Jedinstvo) and FK Radnički (NTK) were merged into one club, renamed into RFK Novi Sad (''Radnički Fudbalski Klub Novi Sad'', Workers Football Club Novi Sad). FK Hajduk Kula
FK Hajduk Kula (Serbian Cyrillic: ФК Хајдук Кула) was a Serbian football club based in Kula. The club was named after a Hajduk, a much celebrated hero figure in the Serbian epic poetry. On 30 July 2013, just eleven days before start of new season it was announced that club resigned from the SuperLiga and dissolved its first team due to financial problems, while the youth teams continue to participate in competitions in the club's successor OFK Hajduk. FK Mladost Apatin
OFK Mladost APA () is a football club based in Apatin, Vojvodina, Serbia. They compete in the Vojvodina League North, the fourth tier of the national league system. History The original club was founded in 1928 as SK Tri zvezde. They played qualifications for the Yugoslav Football Championship in 1933, losing to Split in a two-legged playoff tie (5–4 on aggregate). FK Metalac Gornji Milanovac () is a professional football club based in Gornji Milanovac, Serbia. They compete in the Serbian First League, the second tier of the national league system. History The club was founded as FK Radnik on 12 June 1961. The initiative came from Miroslav Spasojević, a former FK Takovo player, and was backed by two local companies, Graditelj and Metalac. Fudbalski klub Napredak Kruševac (), commonly known as Napredak Kruševac, is a Serbian professional football club based in the city of Kruševac. The word ''Napredak'' means "progress" in Serbian. The club's nickname is the Čarapani which translates in English to the sock-men, the origin of this nickname are from the times of the First Serbian Uprising, when the local insurgents took off their slippers and silently went to defend their homeland against the Ottoman occupation of Serbia, in socks. Fudbalski klub ČSK Pivara (Serbian Cyrillic: ЧСК Пивара) is a football club from Čelarevo, a village near Bačka Palanka, Serbia. It was founded in 1925 as ČOSK ( sr, Čebski Omladinski Sportski Klub or ЧОСК, Чебски Омладински Спортски Клуб). The village of Čelarevo was called Čeb before World War II, hence the name. Fudbalski klub Novi Pazar () is a professional football club from Novi Pazar, Serbia. The club was formed in 1928 as FK Deževa. FK Novi Pazar compete in the Serbian SuperLiga and play their home games at the 12,000 capacity Novi Pazar City Stadium.
