During the 2008–09 Dutch football season, PSV Eindhoven competed in the Eredivisie. Season summary Despite winning the Johan Cruyff Shield, manager Huub Stevens resigned in late January. His assistant Dwight Lodeweges acted as caretaker manager for the rest of the season, leaving at the season's end to manage NEC Nijmegen. Philips Sport Vereniging (; en, Philips Sports Association ), abbreviated as PSV and internationally known as PSV Eindhoven (), is a Dutch sports club from Eindhoven, Netherlands. It is best known for its professional football department, which has played in the Eredivisie, the top tier in Dutch football, since its inception in 1956. Along with Ajax and Feyenoord, PSV is one of the country's " big three" clubs that have dominated the Eredivisie. The club was founded in 1913 as a team for Philips employees. PSV's history contains two golden eras revolving around the UEFA Cup victory in 1978 and the 1987–88 European Cup victory as part of the seasonal treble in 1988. The team has won the Eredivisie 24 times, the KNVB Cup ten times and the Johan Cruyff Shield a record of twelve times. Currently (as of May 2021), PSV is ranked 56th on the UEFA club coefficients ranking.

Danko Lazović ( sr-Cyrl, Данко Лазовић, ; born 17 May 1983) is a Serbian former footballer who played as a forward or winger. He represented the Serbia national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Club career Partizan Lazović started playing football at a small football school in Kragujevac, before joining Partizan at the age of 13. In his first senior season, Lazović made eight league appearances for Partizan, and also played for Teleoptik on loan. Danny Koevermans (born 1 November 1978) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a forward. Club career Early career Born in Schiedam, Koevermans began his career with the amateurs of Excelsior'20, then went to Sparta Rotterdam, playing there for five seasons. AZ In 2005, Koevermans switched to AZ, where he started as a second-choice centre forward, although he bagged numerous goals. Nils Ola Toivonen (; born 3 July 1986) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder or forward. After beginning his career in his home town team of Degerfors, he spent time in the top flight for Örgryte before he got signed by Malmö FF before the 2007 season. Timmy Simons (born 11 December 1976) is a Belgian former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Mike Zonneveld (born 27 October 1980) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a left back. Carlos Arnoldo Salcido Flores (; born 2 April 1980) is a Mexican former professional footballer. He started his career as a centre-back and played most of it as left-back, then converted to defensive midfielder and ended it as centre-back. He won the 2012 Olympic gold medal. Bernie Raymond Blom, known as Kevin Blom (born 21 February 1974 in Gouda), is a Dutch football referee, who officiates for FIFA and UEFA.
