2008–09 Jordan League
The 2008–2009 Jordanian pro League is the 57th season of the top-flight football in Jordan.From this season, the name of the league has changed to the Jordanian Pro League . The championship was won by Al-Wehdat, while Shabab Al-Hussein was relegated. A total of 10 teams participated. Jordanian Pro League
The Jordanian Pro League ( ar, الدوري الأردني للمحترفين) is a Jordanian professional league for men's football clubs and represents the top flight of Jordanian football. The championship consists of twelve competing teams in a home and away league system. The league not held in the years : 1948, 1953, 1957, 1958, 1967, 1968, 1969, and not finished in the 1998 in 2002 the league change calendar to a fall spring season. In 2020 the league return to a spring fall season. Competition format Competition There are 12 clubs in the Premier League. During the course of a season (from March to October) each club plays the others twice (a double round-robin system), once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents', for 22 games. Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. Irbid
Irbid ( ar, إِربِد), known in ancient times as Arabella or Arbela (Άρβηλα in Ancient Greek language, Ancient Greek), is the capital and largest city of the Irbid Governorate. It also has the second largest metropolitan population in Jordan after Amman, with a population of around 2,003,800. Al-Hussein SC (Irbid)
Al-Hussein SC (Irbid) ( ar, الحسين إربد) is a professional football club based in Irbid which competes in the Jordanian Pro League. Al-Hussein (Irbid) participated in the 2005 AFC Cup, winning its group. The club has never won the Jordan League or Jordan FA Cup, but are three-time winners of the Jordan FA Shield and winners of the 2003 Jordan Super Cup. Most recently, Al-Hussein were beaten finalists in the 2007 Jordan FA Shield. Stadium Al-Hussein plays their home games at Al-Hassan Stadium in Irbid. The stadium was built in 1971 and opened in 1976. It is also the home stadium of Al-Arabi and Al-Sareeh. It has a current capacity of 12,000 spectators. Al-Wehdat SC
Al-Wehdat Sport Club ( ar, نادي الوحدات الرياضي}) is a Jordanian sport club founded in 1956. The club is based in and represents the Amman New Camp, a Palestinian refugee camp which is also known as Al-Wehdat. Al-Wehdat's home games are played at King Abdullah II Stadium (cap. 13,265). There are other sports offered in the club, such as volleyball, basketball and table tennis. History The club was founded in 1956 under the name Al-Wehdat Youth Center. In 1974, they changed their name to Al-Wehdat Sport Club and have been called that since then (with the exception of 1986–1989 when it was named Al-Diffatain Sport Club.) Ar Ramtha
Ar-Ramtha ( ar, الرَّمثا, ar-Ramṯā), colloquially transliterated as Ar-Romtha ( ar, الرُّمثا, ar-Rumṯā), is a city situated in the far northwest of Jordan near the Jordan–Syria border, border with Syria. It covers 40 km2 on a plain 30 km northeast of the Jordan River and Irbid.
