2008–09 Detroit Pistons Season
The 2008–09 Detroit Pistons season was the 68th season of the franchise, the 61st in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the 52nd in the Detroit area. The season was the first under new head coach Michael Curry, who took over for Flip Saunders who was fired at the conclusion of the 2007–08 season. In the playoffs, the Pistons were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in four games in the first round. During the season, the Pistons traded Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Allen Iverson. McDyess was waived by the Nuggets and was re-signed by the Pistons. It was their first losing season since 2000–01, and the first time they didn't reach the Eastern Conference finals since 2001–02. Michael Curry (basketball)
Michael Edward Curry (born August 22, 1968) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He was most recently an assistant coach for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Curry played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1993 to 2005. He later served as head coach of the Detroit Pistons. College career A 6'5" guard/ forward from Glenn Hills High School in Augusta, Georgia, Curry played four seasons at Georgia Southern University. With the Eagles, he averaged 9.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over his four-year collegiate career. The Eagles performed well during Curry's tenure with the team, winning the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) tournament championship and qualifying for the 1987 NCAA tournament in Curry's freshman year at Georgia Southern. Antonio McDyess
Antonio Keithflen McDyess (born September 7, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player. Listed at and , McDyess played as a power forward. He played college basketball for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Early life McDyess was born at Quitman, Mississippi and attended the University of Alabama. As a prep, McDyess was one of the top 30 players nationally, and made the Magic Johnson Roundball Classic. McDyess played college basketball at the University of Alabama. As a sophomore, he led the Crimson Tide in scoring (13.6) and rebounding (10.0), and was considered the SEC's best big man. He decided to forgo his final two years of college to enter the 1995 NBA draft. The Seattle SuperSonics (commonly shortened to Sonics) were an American professional basketball team based in Seattle. The 2009-10 Memphis Grizzlies season was the 15th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 2009–10 Boston Celtics season was the 64th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Celtics finished with a record of 50–32, a 12 win drop off from the previous season. They finished 1st in the Atlantic Division and 4th in the Eastern Conference. In the playoffs, the Celtics defeated the Miami Heat in five games in the First Round, then defeated the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers (in a rematch of the 2008 Conference semifinals) again in six games in the Semifinals, and finally, defeated the second-seeded Orlando Magic (the runner-up of last year's Finals as well as the team that defeated the Celtics in last season's Conference semifinals in seven games) in six games in the conference finals to advance to the NBA Finals for the twenty-first time in franchise history. Rasheed Wallace
Rasheed Abdul Wallace (born September 17, 1974) is an American basketball coach and former professional player. A native of Philadelphia, Wallace played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels before declaring for the draft in 1995. He played 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Originally selected by the Washington Bullets (now known as the Washington Wizards) as the fourth pick in the 1995 NBA draft, Wallace was named to the All-Rookie second team following his first season. He was then traded to the Portland Trail Blazers after the season. He was a key member of the Trail Blazers team that made it to the Western Conference Finals in 1999 and 2000, and he was an NBA All-Star in 2000 and 2001.
