2008–09 Barnsley F.C. Season
The 2008–09 season was the 121st season of play for the Barnsley Football Club. It saw the club participate in the Football League Championship. Preparation for 2008–09 The first signing for the new season was announced on 25 June; Canadian international striker Iain Hume arrived in a £1.2 million switch from the relegated Leicester City, the club's first seven-figure signing since 1999. On 27 June, Barnsley signed Argentine defensive midfielder Hugo Colace from Newell's Old Boys and French left winger turned left-back Mounir El Haimour from Swiss side Neuchâtel Xamax. On 2 July, a transfer was secured for experienced central defender Darren Moore of Derby County. The final pre-season transfer came on 8 August with a season-long loan deal for Maceo Rigters from Blackburn Rovers. Barnsley () is a market town in South Yorkshire, England. As the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley and the fourth largest settlement in South Yorkshire. In Barnsley, the population was 96,888 while the wider Borough has seen an increase of 5.8%, from 231,200 in 2011 census to 244,600 in 2021 census. Historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is located between the cities of Sheffield, Manchester, Doncaster, Wakefield, and Leeds. The larger towns of Rotherham and Huddersfield are nearby. Luke Steele (footballer)
Luke David Steele (born 24 September 1984) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. He is joint-manager of National League North side Peterborough Sports As a player he played professionally as a goalkeeper but spent his final season in the game playing as a forward. He came through the youth academy at Peterborough United before signing for Premier League side Manchester United. Whilst with United he had an extensive loan spell with Coventry City which lead to a permanent, though short-lived, move to West Bromwich Albion. He also played in the Football League with Barnsley, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Millwall, as well as stints with Greek side Panathinaikos. Coronel Bolognesi
Coronel Bolognesi Fútbol Club is a Peruvian football club located in the city of Tacna. Originally founded on 18 October 1929, It was named after Francisco Bolognesi. Years later, a second branch of the club called Club Sport Bolito, was founded on 27 May 1998. The club quickly surpassed its older counterpart's achievements and, following its success in 2001 Copa Perú, the president's club Elena Martorell (Fernando Martorell's sister, then president of CD Coronel Bolognesi), decided to change the club's name to Coronel Bolognesi Fútbol Club, in order to further identify both clubs's identities and share their successes. Miguel Ángel Mostto Fernández-Prada, or Miguel Mostto (born 11 November 1977) is a Peruvian former professional footballer who played as a striker. Club career Mostto was born in Ica, Peru. He was signed by Barnsley on a two-year deal from Cienciano for a fee thought to be in the region of £350,000 to £400,000, the largest transfer fee paid by Barnsley since signing Neil Shipperley in 1999. Adam James Hammill (born 25 January 1988) is an English former footballer who played as a winger. Hammill represented England U21s, though he also qualified to play for the Republic of Ireland at international level. Hammill is a product of the Liverpool academy, but failed to make a league appearance for the club at senior level, before leaving to join Championship side Barnsley in 2009.
