The 2008 Women's World Open Squash Championship is the women's edition of the World Open, which serves as the individual world championship for squash players. Vanessa Atkinson
Vanessa Louise Atkinson (born 10 March 1976 in Newcastle, England) is a former professional squash player from the Netherlands, who won the World Open in 2004 and reached the World No. 1 ranking in December 2005. Atkinson was born in England, but her family moved to the Netherlands when she was still a child. She began playing squash as a youngster in Dordrecht. She now resides in Harrogate, Yorkshire, with her partner James Willstrop, himself a professional squash player. Atkinson's biggest win came in 2004 when she won the World Open title in Kuala Lumpur by defeating fellow compatriote Natalie Grinham (at that time still representing Australia) with a score of 9–1, 9–1, 9–5 in the final. Low Wee Wern (; born 25 July 1990 in Penang, Malaysia) is a Malaysian professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 5 in October 2014. Personal life Low attended Methodist Girls' School, Penang for her primary school years before moving to Sri Pelita for her secondary school years. She also has a sister Low Wee Nee who was a professional squash player. Career Low began playing squash at the age of nine based at the Penang International Squash Centre in Bukit Dumbar, Penang. Engy Kheirallah
Engy Kheirallah is a professional squash player from Egypt. She was born on 5 December 1981. She was ranked 33 in May 2011 and reached a career high of no. 11 in July 2010. Engy came to the fore in 1999 when she, Omneya Abdel Kawy and Eman El Amir captured the World Junior Team title, herself having been a semi finalist in the Individual event. By 2002 she had broken into the World Top 30, but it was not until 2005 when she began to move forward more steadily than occasional match wins. Engy, who is from Alexandria, won three events that year, including an emotional Alexandria Open when she beat Abdel Kawy in the semis. Annelize Naudé (born 1 January 1977) is a Dutch professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 13 in January 2006, and has won five WISPA tour titles as well as having been the runner-up nine times since 1996. Professional career Naudé's international squash career began in 1996; her world ranking after her first year was No. 53. She climbed up the rankings to No. 36 two years later, but her rankings then fell to a career low of No. 86 in May 2000. Her ranking rose again to No. 25 in late 2001, and she reached No. 20 a year later. She achieved her career best ranking of No. 13 four years later, in January 2006. Samantha Terán Quintanilla (born May 6, 1981, in Mexico City) is a professional female squash player who represents Mexico. Teran first joined the WISPA Tour in 2000, and she entered the world top twenty for the first time in 2008 as she won the eighth and ninth Tour titles of her career. These followed two in 2007, the Gannon Open and Toronto Open, in both events beating American Latasha Khan in the final.
