A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only ''one'' defeat results in elimination. Rich Hill (baseball Coach)
Richard Bradley Hill (born June 30, 1962) is an American baseball coach, who is the current head baseball coach of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. He was the head coach of the San Diego Toreros from 1999 to 2021. Prior to San Diego, Hill was the head coach of the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen from 1988–1993 and the San Francisco Dons from 1994–1998. He also managed the Chatham A's, a collegiate summer baseball team in the Cape Cod Baseball League from 1990 to 1993. Hill's career head coaching record is 850–570–3, as of the end of the 2013 season. Prior to his coaching career, Hill played college baseball briefly at San Diego State before transferring to Cal Lutheran to finish his college career. San Diego Toreros Baseball
The San Diego Toreros baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of the University of San Diego, located in San Diego, California, United States. The program has been a member of the NCAA Division I West Coast Conference since prior to the 1985 season. Since 2013, its home venue has been Fowler Park, located on the University of San Diego campus. Rich Hill was the program's head coach from 1999 until 2021. The 2008 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 22, 2008. The season was the first to have a uniform start date for both southern and northern teams. The 2008 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from May 30 through June 25, 2008 and was part of the 2008 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 286 teams on May 26, 2008. Thirty teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and 34 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.
