The 2008 MLS season was the second season in Toronto FC's existence. The club's season began on March 29, 2008 in an away game against Columbus Crew, which resulted in a 2–0 loss. Toronto Football Club (commonly known as Toronto FC or TFC) is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Toronto. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The team plays its home matches at BMO Field, located at Exhibition Place on Toronto's shoreline west of Downtown Toronto. Toronto FC joined MLS in 2007 as an expansion team and was the first Canadian-based franchise in the league. Marco Vélez
Marco Vélez (born June 26, 1980, in Carolina) is a Puerto Rican former footballer who played as a defender and currently works as coach for Puerto Rico Surf SC. Career Youth and college Vélez began playing soccer at an early age in Puerto Rico with Colegio San Jose, but moved to Nick Bollettieri's IMG Soccer Academy when in high school. He then attended Barry University from 1999 to 2001, playing on the men's soccer team. During his freshman and sophomore years he was named first team All Conference. Professional Vélez was drafted by the MetroStars in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, but decided to sign with the Seattle Sounders of the USL First Division instead of playing in Major League Soccer. Jarrod Smith
Jarrod Brian Stockley Smith (born 20 July 1984) is a New Zealand professional footballer who currently plays for Team Wellington. Career College Smith moved to the United States after he was recruited by and played three seasons for former West Virginia University head coach Michael Seabolt and played for the Mountaineers in the 2005 and 2006 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship tournaments. He played as a striker and as a winger for WVU. In four seasons with the Mountaineers, Smith scored 32 goals in 74 matches. Amado Guevara
Amado Guevara (born 2 May 1976) is a Honduran former professional footballer and manager. He was the coach of Puerto Rico from 2018 to 2019. A former midfielder, he is the second all-time cap leader for the Honduras national team seconded by Maynor Figueroa . He was selected as the Best Player of the 2001 Copa América, held in Colombia. Chad Barrett
Chad Randall Barrett (born April 30, 1985) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a forward. Career College Born in San Diego, Barrett played two seasons of college soccer at UCLA and led the team in assists his second year. He chose to forgo the rest of his college career, signing a Generation adidas contract with MLS. He attended Southridge HS and played Club Soccer for Westside Metros in Beaverton Oregon. Brian Edwards (soccer)
Brian Edwards (born October 6, 1984) is an American former soccer player who last played as a goalkeeper for Degerfors IF. Career Youth and College Edwards attended Providence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, played club soccer for the Charlotte Soccer Club, and played college soccer at Wake Forest University. In his four-year playing career at Wake Forest, Edwards put up a career 0.78 GA average, 44 career shutouts, and led the Demon Deacons to victory in the 2007 Division I Men's College Cup, defeating Ohio State University in the final. Edwards was named the Final Four's defensive MVP. During his college years he also played with Carolina Dynamo of the USL Premier Development League. Jose "Joey" Alberto Oliveira Melo (born January 25, 1989) is a former Canadian professional soccer player. Club career Melo played youth soccer with Dixie SC. Marvell Wynne (born May 8, 1986) is an American soccer coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the John Woods Community College Blazers’ men's team. Tyler Rosenlund
Tyler Robert Rosenlund (born September 13, 1986) is a Canadian soccer player currently playing for Whitecaps FC 2 in the USL. Career College and amateur Rosenlund played college soccer at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was a member of the UCSB Gauchos squad that reached the 2004 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship which lost to Indiana Hoosiers on penalties. Tyrone Everton Marshall (born 12 November 1974) is a retired Jamaican footballer and current head coach of FC Cincinnati 2, the reserve team of Major League Soccer's FC Cincinnati. Todd Dunivant
Todd Dunivant (born December 26, 1980) is an American former soccer player who played 13 years in Major League Soccer winning 5 MLS Cup trophies. After retirement he spearheaded the San Francisco Deltas professional soccer team as the Director of Soccer Operations and Business Development —winning the NASL Championship in its expansion season.
