2008 SEC Softball Tournament
The 2008 SEC softball tournament was held at Tiger Park on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from May 8 through May 10, 2008. Florida won the tournament and earned the Southeastern Conference's automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Division I softball tournament. Tiger Park
Tiger Park is a softball stadium located on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It serves as the home field of the LSU Lady Tigers softball team and is located on Skip Bertman Drive across from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. The official capacity of the stadium is 2,671 people. Tiger Parks record attendance of 3,242 came on March 25, 2016, in a game versus the University of Florida. The stadium also features an outfield berm, renamed the Tiger Park Terrace in 2016, that can accommodate in excess of 1,200 fans. The stadium opened prior to the 2009 college softball season. 2008 Florida Gators Softball Team
The 2008 Gators went 70–5 overall and 27–1 in SEC play. The 70 wins set an NCAA single season record and Florida, named the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, advanced to the semifinals of the Women's College World Series. They also were the SEC regular season and tournament champions. Five Gators were named All-Americans (Stacey Nelson, Kim Waleszonia, Aja Paculba, Francesca Enea, and Ali Gardiner) and Junior pitcher Stacey Nelson was the SEC Pitcher of the Year. Tim Walton (softball)
Timothy Ian Walton (born August 6, 1972) is an American college softball coach and a former college and professional baseball player. Walton is currently the head coach of the Florida Gators softball team of the University of Florida. He has a 839-182 (.822) record at Florida. He is a five-time Southeastern Conference Softball Coach of the Year, SEC Coach of the Year and helped the Gators set the SEC single-season record wins at 27 and NCAA single-season record wins at 70 in 2008. Charlotte Lee Morgan (born June 5, 1988) is an America], former professional softball pitcher and current Head Coach for Cal State Northridge.
