The 2008 Rhode Island Rams football team was an American football team that represented the University of Rhode Island in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) during the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS football season. In their first and only season under head coach Darren Rizzi, the Rams compiled a 3–9 record (1–7 against conference opponents) and tied for last place in the North Division of the CAA's North Division. Darren Rizzi
Darren Rizzi (born July 21, 1970) is an American football coach who is the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). Prior to this, he was the Miami Dolphins special teams coordinator. He was one of few Miami coaches to see multiple regimes. He even interviewed for the head coach position for the Dolphins after the 2018 season. After Miami hired head coach Brian Flores, they decided to move on from Rizzi. Before the NFL, he was the head coach of the University of New Haven Chargers football team from 1999 to 2001 and the Rhode Island Rams football team in 2008. He compiled an overall record of 18–23. Early life Rizzi grew up in Hillsdale, New Jersey, and graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in nearby Oradell. 2008 UMass Minutemen Football Team
The 2008 UMass Minutemen football team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. The team was coached by Don Brown and played its home games at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Hadley, Massachusetts. The 2008 season was Brown's last as head coach of the Minutemen. He left the position the following season to become the defensive coordinator at Maryland. The Minutemen finished the season with a record of 7–5 (4–4 CAA), missing the playoffs for the first time since 2005. The 2008 William & Mary Tribe football team represented the College of William & Mary as member of South Division of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) during the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by Jimmye Laycock in his 29th year as head coach, William & Mary finished the season with an overall record of 7–4 and a mark of 5–3 in A-10 play, placing fourth in the South Division.
