2008 Oakland Raiders Season
The 2008 Oakland Raiders season was the 49th overall season of the Oakland Raiders franchise, the franchise's 39th season in the National Football League, their 14th season since their return to Oakland and the 2nd and final season under head coach Lane Kiffin. The Raiders improved upon their 4–12 record from 2007. This was also the first time in four seasons that the Raiders did not play both contestants from the previous Super Bowl, playing the New England Patriots, but not the New York Giants. This was also the first time in five seasons the team did not finish last in their division but stood alone at third instead.The Raiders had shared the spot with the Kansas City Chiefs during the previous season. AFC West
The American Football Conference – Western Division or AFC West is one of the four divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The division comprises the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers. The division has sent teams to the Super Bowl eighteen times beginning with Super Bowl I when the Chiefs played the Green Bay Packers. As of the 2021 season, the Broncos and Raiders were tied with the most Super Bowl wins within the division with 3 each; The Broncos have appeared in the most Super Bowls in the division with 8 and the Raiders have appeared in 5. LaMont Jordan
LaMont Damon Jordan (born November 11, 1978) is an American football coach and former running back. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played college football at Maryland. Jordan also played for the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Denver Broncos. As a coach, he was the running backs coach for the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) in 2019. Early years Jordan graduated from Suitland High School in 1997. Fabian Washington (born June 9, 1983) is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at Nebraska and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders 23rd overall in the 2005 NFL Draft. Washington also played with the Baltimore Ravens. Early years Fabian Washington attended Bayshore High School in Bradenton, Florida and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. Edgerton "Ed" Hartwell II (born May 27, 1978) is a former American football linebacker. He played college football at Western Illinois and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Hartwell was also a member of the Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders and Las Vegas Locomotives. Tyler Brayton (born November 20, 1979) is a former American football defensive end. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders 32nd overall in the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Colorado. He played college football at Georgia, and signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2003. Barry Sims (born December 1, 1974) is a former American football offensive lineman. He was drafted by the Scottish Claymores in the 17th round of the NFL Europe Draft in 1999. He played college football at Utah. Sims played nine seasons for the Oakland Raiders and three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. High school career Sims lettered in football, basketball and track at Park City High School (Utah). He was all-League as a two-way lineman.
