2008 OFC Men's Olympic Football Tournament
The 2008 OFC Men's Olympic Football Tournament functioned as the qualifying tournament to the association football competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing for the member nations of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). The tournament consisted of a single round-robin tournament played in Fiji from 1 March to 9 March 2008. New Zealand won the tournament and qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games. Benjamin Totori
Benjamin Totori (born 20 February 1986) is a Solomon Islands footballer who plays as a striker for Kossa. Club career A small but speedy striker, Totori made his name at NZFC side YoungHeart Manawatu before moving to Richmond Athletic and then onto Waitakere United in 2007. In 2008, he moved abroad signing with the Portland Timbers in the United States after impressing New Zealand-born coach Gavin Wilkinson. Totori returned to Waitakere United after injury cut short his career in the USA. He joined Koloale FC Honiara in October 2010 after another successful spell in New Zealand. He immediately ended up top goalscorer in the Telekom S-league, netting 23 goals in only 19 matches. On 19 June 2012 it was announced Totori had signed a one-year deal with Hyundai A-League club Wellington Phoenix. Alick Leonard Maemae (born 10 December 1985) is a football midfielder from the Solomon Islands. He hails from Suraina, North East coast of Malaita. Club career He played soccer at a very early age. His interest in soccer forced him to abandon secondary education back at his home village at Manasu'u. Inspired by the first Solomon Islands professional soccer player, Batram Suri who is his very close relative, Maemae went to Honiara and started playing for Koloale FC. Peter O'Leary (born 3 March 1972) is a New Zealand former Association football referee, previously of Wellington but now is residing and working in Hamilton. He operated in the Australian A-League and the New Zealand Football Championship, and his other occupation is as a teacher and deputy principal at Hamilton's Melville High School.
