The 2008 Norwegian Football Cup Final was the final match of the 2008 Norwegian Football Cup, the 103rd season of the Norwegian Football Cup, the premier Norwegian football cup competition organized by the Football Association of Norway (NFF). The match was played on 9 November 2008 at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, and opposed two Tippeligaen sides Stabæk and Vålerenga. Vålerenga defeated Stabæk 4–1 to claim the Norwegian Cup for a fourth time in their history. 2008 Norwegian Football Cup
The 2008 Norwegian Football Cup was the 103rd season of Norwegian annual knockout football tournament. The competition started on 10 May 2008 with the first-round games and ended on 9 November 2008 with the final. The defending champions were Lillestrøm. The format of the Cup has not changed for this season what means that, unlike other European cup competitions, all teams (including Tippeligaen ones) entered the Cup in the First Round. In the First and Second Round amateur teams (or at least lower-placed at the time of the draw) were seeded and played the matches at home ground. From the Third Round until the end the draw was random. The winners, Vålerenga, qualified for the third qualifying round of the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League. Sogndal Fotball is the association football department of Norwegian sports club Sogndal IL from Sogndal in Vestland. The club was founded in 1926. The men's team currently plays in 1. divisjon, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system. The club's home matches are played at the 5,622 capacity Fosshaugane Campus. Niklas Sandberg (born 3 September 1978) is a retired Swedish centre-back who last played for Swedish Superettan club Brage. Jon Knudsen (born 20 November 1974) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is from August 2022, the goalkeeping coach for the Norway women's national team. Knudsen spent most of his playing career with Stabæk, where he won the league in 2008, and has also played for Lillestrøm, Strømsgodset, Skjetten, Kongsvinger, FC Midtjylland and Fredrikstad. Sportsklubben Haugar is an association football club from Haugesund, Norway, established in 1939. Its top women's team plays in the Second Division and the top men's team plays in the Fifth Division. The men's team has played two Norwegian Football Cup Finals, losing 0–7 against Fredrikstad in 1961 and 2–1 against Viking in 1979. Daniel Fredheim Holm (born 30 July 1985) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a midfielder and works as an assistant coach for KFUM in the OBOS-ligaen. He is the half-brother of former Vålerenga colleague Thomas Holm, and the son of former footballer Paal Fredheim. Club Fredheim Holm was transferred from Skeid to Vålerenga in the spring of 2004, for NOK 1,5 million. In his first season in the Norwegian top division, he scored five goals. Mohammed "Moa" Abdellaoue ( ar, محمد عبد اللاوي; born 23 October 1985) is a retired Norwegian footballer who played as a forward. He started his career with Skeid and Vålerenga before moving to Germany where he played for Hannover 96 and VfB Stuttgart. After returning to Vålerenga he ended his career due to knee problems. Johan Rickard Andersson (born 22 August 1983) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Johan Andersson was reunited with his former coach Janne Jönsson from his early Landskrona career when he joined Stabæk ahead of the 2008 season. He scored two goals in his league debut for Stabæk at home against Lillestrøm in a 4–2 victory. In total he ended up scoring 12 goals in 25 games from midfield in the league, only behind team-mate Daniel Nannskog in the goal scoring chart when Stabæk won their first ever league title.
