2008 NAIA Football National Championship
The 2008 NAIA Football Championship Series concluded on December 20, 2008 with the championship game played at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia. The championship was won by the Sioux Falls Cougars over the Carroll Fighting Saints by a score of 23–7. Tournament bracket * * denotes OT. * ** in their opening round game, Northwestern Oklahoma State used ineligible players. The results of that game were left on the record books, but the Rangers were ruled ineligible for further participation in the championship series. Their opponent in the second round, Carroll (MT), was automatically advanced to the next round. Carroll Fighting Saints Football
The Carroll Fighting Saint football program represents Carroll College of Helena, Montana in college football. The team competes in the Frontier Conference, which is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Carroll Fighting Saints football team began playing in 1920 and is one of the most successful programs in the NAIA division of college football. The program has won six NAIA Football National Championships (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010) and 40 conference championships, 14 while a member of the Montana Collegiate Conference and 26 as a member of the Frontier Conference. The team is currently coached by Troy Purcell who is in his first season at Carroll. The Carroll College Fighting Saints play their home games on campus at Nelson Stadium. Lambuth Eagles Football
Lambuth University was a private Methodist university in Jackson, Tennessee. It was active from 1843 to 2011 and was supported by the Memphis Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The university began as the Memphis Conference Female Institute in 1843 and was later renamed in honor of Walter Russell Lambuth (1854–1921), a Methodist missionary who traveled globally. After several years of financial struggles, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools opted not to renew Lambuth's accreditation in 2011. Due to both the financial and accreditation problems, the Board of Trustees voted in April 2011 to cease operations two months later. The Sioux or Oceti Sakowin (; Dakota: /otʃʰeːtʰi ʃakoːwĩ/) are groups of Native American tribes and First Nations peoples in North America. The University of the Cumberlands is a private Christian university in Williamsburg, Kentucky. About 18,000 students are enrolled at the university. The Union Bulldogs football program represents Union College of Barbourville, Kentucky in college football. St. Ambrose University is a private Catholic university in Davenport, Iowa. It was founded as a school of commerce for young men in 1882. History Foundation St. Ambrose was founded as a seminary and school of commerce for young men in 1882, known as St. Ambrose Academy.
