2008 Missouri Tigers Football Team
The 2008 Missouri Tigers football team represented the University of Missouri in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Gary Pinkel, who returned in his eighth season with Mizzou, and played their home games at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium. Gary Pinkel
Gary Robin Pinkel (born April 27, 1952) is a former American college football coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Toledo from 1991 to 2000 and the University of Missouri from 2001 to 2015, compiling career record of 191–110–3. Pinkel has the most wins of any head coach in the history of the Toledo Rockets football program and led the 1995 team to a Mid-American Conference championship. He also holds the record for most wins by a head coach of the Missouri Tigers football program. Before becoming a head coach, Pinkel served as an assistant at the University of Washington, under Don James, from 1979 through 1990, the last six of those years as an offensive coordinator. Tyler Luellen
Tyler Luellen (born July 25, 1984) is a former American football offensive tackle for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League. He was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Missouri. College career During a game against Iowa State in 2004, Luellen hurt his left shoulder and was forced to undergo rotator-cuff surgery in the off-season. He sat out of spring drills in 2005, but was able to rejoin the team in time to play every game of the 2005 season. His 2006 spring was cut short by a knee injury that he again recovered from to play in each of the 2006 contests. Robert Steeples
Robert Steeples (born November 27, 1989) is an American football former player and current Cornerbacks coach for LSU Football. He is the former assistant special teams coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). As a cornerback, he played college football for both the University of Missouri and the University of Memphis. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent for the St. Louis Rams. Jacquies Smith (pronounced "Jack", born March 18, 1990) is a former defensive end. In 2014, Smith recorded 6.5 sacks in 7 starts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2015, Smith is credited with 7 quarterback sacks in the 11 games that he was healthy enough to play. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. Stryker Sulak (born June 17, 1986) is a former American football linebacker with the Green Bay Packers. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft but was waived before he signed a contract. He played college football at Missouri.
