2008 J. League Division 2
The 2008 J. League Division 2 season is the 37th season of the second-tier club football in Japan and the 10th season since the establishment of J2 League. The season started on March 8 and ended on December 6. In this season, the number of participating clubs was increased by two, making the total number, fifteen. Unlike the first nine seasons, the clubs played in triple round-robin format, instead of quadruple round-robin format. At the end of the season, top two clubs were promoted and third-placed club advanced to the Pro/Rele Series. There were no relegation to third-tier Japan Football League. Sanfrecce Hiroshima
Sanfrecce Hiroshima ( ja, サンフレッチェ広島, translit=''Sanfuretche Hiroshima'') is a Japanese professional football club based in Asaminami-ku, Hiroshima. The club plays in the J1 League, which is the top tier of football in the country. Club name The club name is a portmanteau of the Japanese word for three, ''San'' and the Italian word ''frecce'', which means 'arrows'. 2007 Japan Football League
The was the ninth season of the Japan Football League, the third tier of the Japanese football league system. Overview It was contested by 18 teams, and Sagawa Express won the championship. The club was created before the season by merger of two Sagawa Express corporate clubs from Tokyo and Osaka. SC Tottori were renamed to Gainare Tottori before the season. TDK SC and FC Gifu were promoted from Regional leagues by the virtue of their placing in the Regional League promotion series, the former promoted automatically and the latter won the play-off series against Honda Lock. FC Gifu, Gainare Tottori and Tochigi SC were approved as J. League associate members at the annual meeting in January. Tokushima Vortis
is a Japanese professional football club, currently playing in the J2 League. The team is located in Tokushima, Tokushima Prefecture. Their home stadium is Naruto Otsuka Sports Park Pocari Sweat Stadium, in Naruto, Tokushima. The name, "Vortis" was named in 1997 (see below), and it was explained as a combination of Italian "''Vor''tice" (meaning whirlpool, after the famous Naruto whirlpool in Naruto Strait). Yokohama FC
is a Japanese professional football club based in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, part of the Greater Tokyo Area. The club currently plays in the J1 League, the first tier of football in the country. Thespa Kusatsu
is a professional football (soccer) club based in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture in Japan. The club plays in the J2 League, the second division of professional football in Japan. History The club was founded in 1995 in Kusatsu, one of the most well-known spa resorts in Japan, in 1995 as Liaison Kusatsu Football Club. The players were the students of specialized training college Higashi Nihon Soccer Academy. Montedio Yamagata
is Japanese professional association football club based in Tendo, Yamagata. The club currently playing in J2 League, the Japanese second tier of professional football. Name origin Montedio is a coined word combining the Italian word for "mountain" (Monte) and the word for "God" (Dio).
