2008 Italian Formula Three Season
The 2008 Italian Formula Three Championship was the 44th Italian Formula Three Championship season. It began on May 10 at Mugello and ended on October 19 at Vallelunga after 16 races. The season began with Edoardo Piscopo dominating the field with four successive wins, but another run of seven victories by Mirko Bortolotti, gave him the leadership in the championship. The championship title was delayed to the last round in Vallelunga, the victory in race one and his eighth of the season gave Bortolotti the championship crown. The three first classified drivers of the championship were rewarded with a Formula One test organized by the Scuderia Ferrari at the wheel of a Ferrari F2008 at Fiorano, with Bortolotti setting the new track record. Italian Formula Three Championship
The Italian Formula Three Championship was the Formula Three racing competition in Italy. History Formula Three has traditionally been regarded as the first major stepping stone for F1 hopefuls - it is typically the first point in a driver's career at which most drivers in the series are aiming at professional careers in racing rather than being amateurs and enthusiasts. Success in F3 can lead directly to more senior formulae such as GP2, A1 Grand Prix, or even a Formula One test or race seat. Most notably in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Italian F3 championship produced drivers who graduated to Formula One to varying success. Tom Dillmann
Tom Dillmann (born 6 April 1989 in Mulhouse) is a French racing driver, formerly competing for Nio Formula E Team, in Formula E. He is probably best known for winning the German Formula Three Championship in the 2010 season and the Formula V8 3.5 Championship in the 2016 3.5 season. Career Karting and Formula Renault As son of retired racing driver, mechanic and team manager Gerard Dillmann, Tom Dillmann started his career by winning the regional Alsace soapbox championship in 1999. He raced go-karts from 2000 to 2002 in the minime and junior classes, and won a regional title and also achieved fourth place in the French championship. Khalil Beschir (born 18 June 1983) is a Lebanese motorsport entrepreneur and Motorsport development consultant, as well as a former racing driver. Early years Beschir was born in Bhersaf, Lebanon. Matteo Davenia (born 7 January 1993 in Milan) is a racing driver from Italy. Career Karting Davenia began his motorsport career in karting back in 2003, finishing fourth in the Italian Junior Championship. He was also champion of the 2007 Italian Rotax 125 championship. Nicolas Verdonck (born 5 December 1985) is a Belgian racing driver. He was born in Brussels. Career Formula Renault Verdonck competed in Formula Renault 1600 in 2003, his first year in single seaters. His race engineer was Tim Wright. Formula 3000 Verdonck rose to prominence when he competed in the 2004 International Formula 3000 season with the Astromega team. Although the step up in power and downforce from FRenault to F3000 is a big one, Verdonck was given a degree of stability by the fact that he kept Wright as his race engineer.
