Margrethe II Of Denmark
Margrethe II (; Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid, born 16 April 1940) is Queen of Denmark. Having reigned as Denmark's monarch for over 50 years, she is Europe's longest-serving current head of state and the world's only incumbent female monarch following the death of Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. Born into the House of Glücksburg, a cadet branch of the House of Oldenburg, Margrethe is the eldest child of Frederick IX of Denmark and Ingrid of Sweden. She became heir presumptive to her father in 1953, when a constitutional amendment allowed women to inherit the throne. Margrethe succeeded her father upon his death on 14 January 1972. On her accession, she became the first female monarch of Denmark since Margrethe I, ruler of the Scandinavian kingdoms in 1375–1412 during the Kalmar Union. World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Founded in 1955, the organization is known for holding an annual press photography contest. Berlingske
''Berlingske'', previously known as ''Berlingske Tidende'' (, ''Berling's Times''), is a Danish national daily newspaper based in Copenhagen. It is considered a newspaper of record for Denmark. First published on 3 January 1749, ''Berlingske'' is Denmark's, as well as the Nordic region's, oldest continually operating newspaper and among the oldest newspapers in the world. History and profile ''Berlingske'' was founded by Denmark's Royal Book Printer Ernst Henrich Berling and originally titled ''Kjøbenhavnske Danske Post-Tidender'', then the ''Berlingskes Politiske og Avertissements Tidende.'' Erik Refner
Erik Refner (born 14 January 1971) is a Danish photographer and former pentathlete, soldier, and model. He is best known for winning the World Press Photo of the Year award in 2002 as a student. He also won the Cavling Prize in 2009. Early life Refner was born on the 14th January 1971 in Copenhagen and grew up in the north of the city. As a teenager he travelled internationally, including living for three months in an Israeli kibbutz. Adult life In the 1990s, Refner was a sergeant in the Royal Danish army after which he spent one year as part of the Danish pentathlon team. He then worked as a model for seven years, before switching to photography after one of the photographers he was working with needed an assistant. He won the World Press Photo of the Year in 2002, while studying at the Danish School of Media and Journalism, which he attended from 1998 to 2002. Nordic Council Film Prize
The Nordic Council Film Prize is an annual film prize administered by the Nordic Council. The Nordisk Film & TV Fond is the funding body that administers the prize. History The first award was handed out in 2002 to celebrate the Nordic Council's 50th anniversary. Since 2005 the prize has been annual. Description The Nordisk Film & TV Fond is secretariat to the Nordic Council. It is funded by 22 partners: the Nordic Council of Ministers; five national film institutes; and 16 public and private media companies. It also funds the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize at the annual Gothenburg Film Festival. One winner is chosen from submissions from the five Nordic countries. In 2008, the prize money of the Nordic Council Film Prize was €47,000. Manslaughter (2005 Film)
''Manslaughter'' ( da, Drabet) is a 2005 Danish drama film written and directed by Per Fly. The film stars Jesper Christensen, Beate Bille and Pernilla August as well as Fly's wife Charlotte Fich. ''Manslaughter'' won the Nordic Council Film Prize in 2005, multiple awards at the 2006 Bodil Awards — including Best Actor, Best Film and Best Supporting actress — as well as being nominated for several other major film awards. Per Fly
Per Fly Plejdrup (born 14 January 1960) is a Danish film director, generally credited simply as Per Fly. He has made many films and television shows broadcast on Danish television. Per Fly's awards includes the Crown Prince Couple's Culture Prize in 2005. Biography Fly graduated from The National Film School of Denmark in 1993. He debuted in 2000 with the feature film ''Bænken'' (''The Bench''), which told the story of Kaj, a man whose life has led him into serious alcoholism. This film was the first part of what would become the Denmark trilogy, which portrayed situations and characters from the lower, upper and middle classes in Denmark, in that order. The stop-motion animation film '' Prop og Berta ''(''Prop and Berta'', 2001) followed ''Bænken'', but was not part of the trilogy. The trilogy continued with '' Arven'' (''The Inheritance'', 2003) depicting the upper class, and the middle class in ''Drabet ''(''Manslaughter'', 2005). Performers House was a folk high school in Silkeborg, Denmark, specializing in offering programs for young people with a special interest in music, dance and theatre. Performers House was situated at the revitalized industrial site of an old paper mill in central Silkeborg. Facilities include spacious performance areas, teaching rooms, a canteen, student café, student accommodation and housing for teaching staff.
