The 2008 Formula BMW World Final was the fourth and the final Formula BMW World Final race, held for the first time at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City on 5–7 December 2008. Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez
The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a motorsport race track in Mexico City, Mexico, named after the racing drivers Ricardo (1942–1962) and Pedro Rodríguez (1940–1971). The circuit got its name shortly after it opened when Ricardo Rodríguez died in practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix. Ricardo's brother Pedro was also killed behind the wheel nine years later. Since 2015, the track has once again hosted the Formula One Mexican Grand Prix, an event it previously hosted in two separate periods on a different layout, the last occasion of which was in 1992. The circuit is located within the public park of the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City in southeast Mexico City. The circuit is owned by the Government of the City, but is currently operated under concession by Corporación Interamericana de Entretenimiento (CIE) through OCESA, one of CIE's subsidiaries. 2008 Formula BMW Europe Season
The 2008 Formula BMW Europe season was the first season of a new open wheel racing series that resulted by the merging of the Formula BMW#Germany, Formula BMW Germany and Formula BMW#UK, Formula BMW UK championships. Formula BMW Europe is a continental series for junior drivers, whose mission is to develop talented young drivers and introduce them to auto racing. The season started on April 27, 2008 at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona and ended on September 14 at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Monza. All rounds were staged on the undercard of the Formula One World Championship except Zolder, which was a support race of the 2008 Masters of Formula 3, Masters of Formula 3. Facundo "Facu" Regalia (born 23 November 1991 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine racing driver. He competed in his first two Formula BMW seasons under a Spanish racing licence. Career Karting Regalia began karting in 2006 and raced primarily in Spain for the majority of his career. Formula BMW Regalia began his formula racing career in 2008 in the newly created Formula BMW Europe with EuroInternational. He finished sixteenth overall in the championship, with nine point-scoring finishes and 60 points. Regalia remained in the series for the following season but switched to Josef Kaufmann Racing. Gabriel "Gabby" Chaves (born 7 July 1993) is a Colombian-American racing driver, currently competing in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Michelin Pilot Challenge. Giancarlo Vilarinho (born April 2, 1992) is a Brazilian racecar driver from São Paulo. After karting, Vilarinho raced in Formula BMW Americas and Formula BMW Europe for the Eurointernational team in 2008, finishing sixth in the Americas series and also competed in the World Finals. Doru Sechelariu (born 19 November 1992 in Bacău, Romania) is a Romanian racecar driver. He is the son of Dumitru Sechelariu, who was the mayor of Bacău from 1996 to 2004. Career Karting Sechelariu began his motorsport career in karting back in 2002, winning in the Mini class of the FRAK Cup. In 2005 he finished 15th in the ICA Junior class of the Italian championship. David Ostella (born October 8, 1991) is a Canadian racing driver from Maple, Ontario. After racing in various American and Canadian karting series, Ostella made his professional racing debut in Formula BMW Americas in 2008 for Eurointernational, finishing 9th in points. In 2009 he moved to the Star Mazda Series with AIM Autosport and finished 13th in points with one podium finish. In 2010 he returned to the series with AIM and improved to 12th in points.
