2008 Dublin Senior Football Championship
The 2008 Dublin Senior Football Championship is the inter club Gaelic football competition between the top teams in Dublin GAA. The 2008 competition opened with group stages. The first round of the group stages began on May 8, 2008. Kilmacud Crokes finished as the 2008 champions and went on to qualify for the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship first round against Celbridge. Tomas Quinn finished the season as highest scorer with 5-34 (0-24f, 0-1 sline 0-1 pen). Dublin Champions Kilmacud Crokes progressed from the Dublin championship to win both the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship and the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. The Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Coiste Contae Átha Cliath) or Dublin GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in the Dublin Region and the Dublin county teams. Parnell Park
Parnell Park is a GAA stadium in Donnycarney, Dublin, Ireland with a capacity of 8,500. It is the home of the Dublin GAA hurling, football, camogie and ladies' football teams at all levels of competition. The ground is used by Dublin's inter-county teams mainly during home National Hurling League & All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship games and as a training ground, with most National Football League and All-Ireland Senior Football Championship games played in Croke Park. Jason Sherlock
Jason Sherlock (born 10 January 1976 in Dublin) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Dublin county team between 1995 and 2010. He played most of his club football for Na Fianna in Glasnevin in the northern suburbs of Dublin. Sherlock was on the Na Fianna team which won the Dublin Championship in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In January 2007, he transferred to the nearby St. Oliver Plunkett GAA. Bernard Brogan (junior)
Bernard Brogan (born 3 April 1984) is a Gaelic footballer from the St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh club who previously played for the Dublin county team. He is originally from the Battery Heights. From a famous footballing family, he is the son of former All-Ireland winning and All Star player Bernard Brogan Snr and is the brother of former Dublin players Alan and Paul. Alan Brogan
Alan Brogan (born 11 January 1982) is a Gaelic footballer from the St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh club who played for the Dublin county team from 2002 until his retirement in 2015. He can play in the full forward line but usually played centre half forward for Dublin. From a famous family, Brogan, is the son of former all-Ireland winning and All Star player Bernard Snr and is the brother of Dublin players Bernard Jnr and Paul. UCD GAA or University College Dublin Gaelic Athletic Association club is a Dublin based Gaelic games club in University College Dublin. The UCD hurling club was founded in 1900 and boasted the mottos "Ad Astra" and "Cothrom Féinne". The first team was an amalgamation of students from UCD and Cecilia St. Although UCD had been playing Gaelic football unofficially since 1900, the official club history began in the season of 1911/1912. Mark Vaughan
Mark Vaughan (born 17 May 1985 in Dublin) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for the Kilmacud Crokes club and, formerly, for the Dublin county team. He made his break into the senior Dublin squad in 2005 making his first senior championship start on 19 June against Wexford. He scored two late frees in the Leinster Quarter-Final against Meath to ensure Dublin's win. Mark attended Griffith College Dublin and the Dublin Institute of Technology. He attended Blackrock College where he excelled in sports including soccer and rugby. He played u-17 soccer for Ireland and had a trial for the U19 Rugby team and he also played rugby for Blackrock but he eventually decided to concentrate solely on Gaelic football. Barry O'Rorke or baz (born 3 March 1989) is an inter-county Gaelic footballer and Hurling, hurler for Dublin GAA, Dublin. He plays his club hurling and football with Kilmacud Crokes GAA, Kilmacud Crokes and has been a member of the senior panel in both codes. He received his secondary education at the Irish medium school Coláiste Eoin in County Dublin. The Dublin Senior Football Championship (currently known for sponsorship reasons as the '' Go-Ahead'' Dublin Senior Football Championship) is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Dublin GAA clubs.
