2008 Australian Superkart Season
The 2008 Australian Superkart Championship covers national level Superkart racing in Australia during 2008. Featured events Australian Superkart Championship The 2008 Australian Superkart Championship will be the 20th running of the national championships for Superkarts. It will begin on 13 July 2008 at Eastern Creek Raceway (using what is currently known as the Gardner Grand Prix Circuit) and end on 2 November at Mallala Motor Sport Park after eight races. It will be contested for three engine based classes, 250 cc International (twin cylinder engines), 250 cc National (single-cylinder engines) and 125 cc. Non-Gearbox Superkart Championship The Australian championship for non-gearbox Superkarts will be held at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 10 August and will be consisted of the Rotax Max family of classes; two weight based classes Light and Heavy and Junior Max for competitors under the age of 17. Superkart
Superkart is a form of motorsport road racing that uses karts on long circuits. The most obvious difference between a superkart and most other forms of kart is that they have full aerodynamic bodykits as well as having a longer wheel base than sprint chassis and are generally raced on car circuits over 1,500 metres in length. The power unit, most often, but not exclusively two-stroke 250 cc engines, can be specially designed kart engines or production motorcycle engines with either five- or six-speed sequential manual gearboxes. Owing to their high top speed and superb cornering ability, a superkart's aerodynamic bodywork includes a front fairing, larger sidepods, and a rear wing. They use either tires and wheels and most often race on full size auto-racing circuits. Anton Stevens
Anton Stevens (ca. 1608 – perhaps 1675) was a Bohemian painter active in the second third of the 17th century. Besides Karel Škréta he was another important promoter of early Baroque painting in the country.
