2008 Allianz Suisse Open Gstaad
The 2008 Allianz Suisse Open Gstaad was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 41st edition of the Allianz Suisse Open Gstaad, and was part of the International Series of the 2008 ATP Tour. It took place at the Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad, Switzerland, from 7 July through 13 July 2008. The singles draw featured ATP No. 10, Rome Masters and Doha runner-up Stanislas Wawrinka, Marseille and Munich semifinalist, and Gstaad defending champion Paul-Henri Mathieu, and Australian Open quarterfinalist and Chennai titlist Mikhail Youzhny. ATP International Series
The ATP International Series (known from 1990 to 1997 as the ATP World Series) was a series of professional tennis tournaments held internationally as part of the ATP Tour from 2000 to 2008. The series was renamed ATP Tour 250 in 2009. International Series offered players cash prizes (tournaments have purses from $416,000 to $1,000,000) and the ability to earn ATP ranking points. They generally offered less prize money and fewer points than the ATP International Series Gold, but more than tournaments on the ATP Challenger Series. Guillermo Cañas
Guillermo Ignacio Cañas (; born November 25, 1977), often referred to as Willy Cañas, is a retired tennis player from Argentina. He was born in Buenos Aires and named after Argentine tennis star Guillermo Vilas. Cañas won the 2002 Canada Masters – Singles, Canada Masters in 2002, and reached the quarterfinal stage of the French Open in 2002, 2005 and 2007. Nicolas Kiefer (; born 5 July 1977) is a German former professional tennis player. He reached the semifinals of the 2006 Australian Open and won a silver medal in men's doubles with partner Rainer Schüttler at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Andreas Seppi (born 21 February 1984) is an Italian former professional tennis player. He reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 18 on 28 January 2013. He became the first Italian to win a title on all three surfaces. The ATP Challenger Tour, known until the end of 2008 as the ATP Challenger Series, is a series of international men's professional tennis tournaments. The Challenger Tour events are the second-highest tier of tennis competition, behind the ATP Tour. Ivo Karlović (; born 28 February 1979) is a former Croatian professional tennis player. His height of 211 cm (6 ft 11 in) makes him the joint tallest ranked tennis player in history, along with Reilly Opelka. He has won eight ATP singles titles between 2007 and 2016.
