The 2008 All-Big Ten Conference football team consists of American football players chosen as All-Big Ten Conference players for the 2008 Big Ten Conference football season. The conference recognizes two official All-Big Ten selectors: (1) the Big Ten conference coaches selected separate offensive and defensive units and named first- and second-team players (the "Coaches" team); and (2) a panel of sports writers and broadcasters covering the Big Ten also selected offensive and defensive units and named first- and second-team players (the "Media" team). 2008 Big Ten Conference Football Season
The 2008 Big Ten Conference football season is the 113th season for the Big Ten. Preseason Ohio State was selected as the preseason favorite to win the conference with Wisconsin and Illinois second and third, respectively by the Media. Ohio State running back Chris Wells was chosen as the Preseason Big Ten Offensive Player of the year while fellow Buckeye linebacker James Laurinaitis was named the Preseason Big Ten Defensive Player of the year. Purdue Head Coach Joe Tiller will enter his final season, while Michigan's Rich Rodriguez will begin his first in Ann Arbor. In a given year, each Big Ten team will play eight of the other Big Ten teams. Thus for any given team in a given year, there are two others which will not be competed against. David Gilreath
David Gilreath (born December 11, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver. Gilreath played college football at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. High school Gilreath attended high school at Robbinsdale Armstrong in Plymouth, Minnesota after transferring from Minneapolis Washburn in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he played for three years. He lettered in football four times, baseball twice and track once. As a senior, Gilreath caught 26 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing 28 times for 504 yards and two touchdowns, also returned 13 punts for 185 yards and 16 kickoffs for 358 yards and a touchdown. During his football career, Gilreath totaled 153 receptions for 2,496 yards and 45 touchdowns, along with 1,022 rushing yards. Kyle Calloway
Kyle Calloway (June 21, 1987 – July 2, 2016) was an American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of the University of Iowa. Calloway was considered to be a late-round draft prospect in the 2010 NFL Draft. He was also a member of the Hartford Colonials and Baltimore Ravens football teams. He was killed when struck by a train while jogging in Vail, Arizona, on July 2, 2016. Early years As a military dependant, Calloway attended three high schools in four years. Bryan Joseph Bulaga ( ; born March 21, 1989) is an American football offensive tackle who is a free agent. He played college football at Iowa. Bulaga was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He won Super Bowl XLV with the team over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Early years His parents are of Polish descent. Xavier Allen Fulton (born April 18, 1986) is a Canadian football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Illinois. Fulton has also been a member of the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Redskins. Gerald Anthony Cadogan (born January 16, 1986, in Oakland, California) is an American football offensive tackle who is currently a free agent. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at Penn State.
