2007–08 Segunda División
The 2007–08 season was the 77th in the history of the Segunda División (known as the Liga BBVA for sponsorship reasons), the second tier of the Spanish football league system. The first matches of the season were played on 25 August 2007, and the season ended on 15 June 2008. Celta de Vigo, Real Sociedad, and Gimnàstic de Tarragona were the teams which were relegated from La Liga the previous season. Racing de Ferrol, Eibar, Sevilla Atlético, and Córdoba were the teams which were promoted from Segunda División B the previous season. The first goal of the season was scored by Joseba del Olmo, who scored an 18th-minute goal for Eibar against Racing de Ferrol in the early kick-off. The first red card of the competition was given to Miguel Cobas of Las Palmas after a challenge on Numancia's Gorka Brit. CD Numancia
Club Deportivo Numancia de Soria, S.A.D. is a Spanish football club in Soria, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Sociedad Deportiva Eibar (in eu, Eibar Kirol Elkartea) is a professional Spanish football club based in Eibar, Gipuzkoa, in the autonomous Basque Country. Founded on 30 November 1940, the team currently plays in the Segunda División, the second tier of Spanish football, having been relegated from La Liga at the end of the 2020–21 season. Hércules de Alicante Club de Fútbol, S.A.D. () is a Spanish football team in Alicante, in the autonomous community of Valencian Community. Xerez Club Deportivo, known simply as Xerez, is a Spanish football team based in Jerez de la Frontera, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Xerez currently plays in Tercera División RFEF, the fifth tier of Spanish football. Founded on 24 September 1947, The club's biggest success came in 2009, when they managed to play in La Liga for the first time for the 2009–10 season. A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. Origin The term first appeared in 1858 in cricket, to describe H. H. Stephenson taking three wickets with three consecutive deliveries. Fans held a collection for Stephenson, and presented him with a hat bought with the proceeds. The term was used in print for the first time in 1865 in the ''Chelmsford Chronicle''. Gorka Brit
Gorka Brit Gallego (born 19 April 1978) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a striker. He amassed Segunda División totals of 177 games and 59 goals over six seasons, in representation of Eibar, Salamanca, Numancia and Real Unión. In La Liga he appeared for Numancia and Osasuna, for a total of 48 matches. Club career Brit was born in San Sebastián, Gipuzkoa. Having grown through the ranks of Real Sociedad and having played as a senior with modest clubs, mostly in the Basque Country, he made his debut in La Liga with CA Osasuna in the 2002–03 season. Unión Deportiva Las Palmas, S.A.D. is a Spanish football team based in Las Palmas, on the island of Gran Canaria in the autonomous community of Canary Islands. Founded on 22 August 1949, it plays in Segunda División, holding home games at the Estadio Gran Canaria, with a capacity of 32,400 seats. Penalty cards are used in many sports as a means of warning, reprimanding or penalising a player, coach or team official. Penalty cards are most commonly used by referees or umpires to indicate that a player has committed an offence. Joseba del Olmo García (born 20 June 1981) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a left winger. Club career Del Olmo was born in Barakaldo, Biscay. From 1999 to 2004 he played in the Basque lower leagues (Tercera División or lower), subsequently representing Barakaldo CF and Sestao River Club in Segunda División B.
