2007–08 OPJHL Season
The 2007–08 OPJHL season is the 15th season of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJHL). The thirty-five teams of the North, South, East, and West divisions will compete in a 49-game schedule. Come February, the top six teams of each division competed for the Frank L. Buckland Trophy, the OJHL championship. The winner of the Buckland Cup, the Oakville Blades, competed in the Central Canadian Junior "A" championship, the Dudley Hewitt Cup, and won. Once successful against the winners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and Superior International Junior Hockey League, the champion Blades then moved on to play in the Canadian Junior A Hockey League championship, the 2008 Royal Bank Cup where they finished last. Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada. It is under the supervision of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) and the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). The league was listed as the 7th best developmental league in North America for professional and amateur ice hockey in July 2013 by the website, "TheHockeyWriters.com". The league dates back to 1954 where it began as the "Central Junior B Hockey League". In 1993, the Central Junior B Hockey League was promoted to the Junior A level and renamed the "Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League". In 2009, the league was dissolved by the Ontario Hockey Association and split into two leagues: the "Central Canadian Hockey League" and the "Ontario Junior A Hockey League". Bancroft Hawks
The Toronto Patriots are a junior "A" ice hockey team from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of Ontario Junior Hockey League. History Quinte (1996–1998) In 1996, the Quinte Hawks of Deseronto, Ontario were granted expansion into the Metro Junior A Hockey League. David Frost was brought in to coach the team. Frost faced criminal charges in 2008 for his conduct for his time with the team, but was acquitted. Frost brought with him Mike Jefferson and Sheldon Keefe. Although both would play in the National Hockey League, Jefferson (later changed to Danton) would become famous for a mysterious murder-for-hire plot that targeted Frost and landed him in prison. Bancroft (1998–2007) In 1998, the Metro Junior A Hockey League folded and merged with the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League. Lindsay, Ontario
Lindsay is a community of 22 367 people (2021 Canadian Census, 2021 census) on the Scugog River in the Kawartha Lakes (Ontario), Kawartha Lakes region of south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately west of Peterborough, Ontario, Peterborough. It is the seat of the Kawartha Lakes, City of Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County, Ontario, Victoria County), and the hub for business and commerce in the region. History The Township of Ops was surveyed in 1825 by Colonel Duncan McDonell, and Lots 20 and 21 in the 5th Concession were reserved for a town site. The same year settlers began to come to the region, and by 1827, the Purdys, an American family, built a dam on the Scugog River at the site of present-day Lindsay. Lindsay Muskies
The Lindsay Muskies are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. History The Muskies started out in the Central Junior C Hockey League. In 1989, the team jumped to the Central Junior "B" and stayed with the league when it became the OPJHL in 1993. Bowmanville, Ontario
Bowmanville is a town of approximately 40,000 people located in the Municipality of Clarington, Ontario, Clarington, Regional Municipality of Durham, Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. It is approximately east of Toronto, and east of Oshawa along Highway 2 (Ontario), Highway 2. The Bowmanville Eagles were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. They were a part of the Central Canadian Hockey League. The Eagles left the OHA in 2010 when they merged with the Cobourg Cougars and left Bowmanville. History The team has been known as the Bowmanville Eagles since 1978. Prior to this they were known as the Bowmanville Red Eagles. The team was a member of the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League early on. The Trenton Golden Hawks are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Trenton, Ontario. They are members of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, a part of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and a member of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Kingston is a city in Ontario, Canada. The Kingston Voyageurs were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Kingston, Ontario, Canada. They were a part of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League. History The Voyageurs entered the Metro Junior B Hockey League in 1974. The Voyageurs filled the Junior "B" void left when the Kingston Frontenacs jumped from the Eastern Junior B Hockey League in 1972 to the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League and then the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League in 1973 as the Kingston Canadians.
